View Full Version : Blood Stone question: possible to remove gem gen and keep as path booster?

I am organizing a no gem generator game ( thread here (http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=43775) ) and after searching the forums and reading the modding manual have come to the conclusion that creating new magic items is very limited and in particular that creating a magic item that will boost a path is not possible.

This leaves the option of modding an existing earth booster. The three unique magic items that seem like candidates are Pebble Skin Suit, Boots of Antaeus and Tome of Gaia. Unfortunately, all three have additional effects (regen, reinvig, etc.) that I don't want.

Since the list of item modding commands is limited I tried commands from other modding categories (such #reinvig -5 ) but of course this didn't work. Is there any way to remove/counteract these effects so that I can create an earth booster that doesn't generate gems?

Not by modifying an existing item.

Actually, Pebble Skin Suit as a E4 construction 6 item would be pretty cool. Would be an intresting boosting quirky armor.

Thanks for the answers. I think I will go without a replacement for blood stones in this game. Pebble Skin Suit could be a fun item but even at E4 I'd worry about the potential for changing game balance by turning mages into trolls (though it would work nicely for my dwarves since I'll be playing Van:)).

Well, at 25 gems a piece, I wouldn't really worry about anyone massing it. IIRC, it was cursed, so you can't pass it to next guy when the "trollification" happens. A cursed, expensive booser item that gives more casing encumberance isn't that great.
