Still the AI seems to be unable to cope with minefields. The Amonkrie are sending ship after ship into known minefields, they rarely attempt to sweep them.

I keep hoping for another patch. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Maybe it is just their way of sweeping http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif. Seriously, though, this might be intended by the race designer. As I have learned recently, it can be better for the AI to ignore minefields, there should be mine sweepers coming in soon.

More than that, this is not controllable in the individual AI files. You have to set it in the .EMP files. The various empire options, including the combat setting to damage ships/bases until weapons are gone, ought to be settable in the text files.

Maybe I'm imagining this, but I remember someone pointed out that if you tell your AI to avoid minefields that it obediently does so, even after it has minesweepers. Unfortunately, there is no flag for "Avoid minefields, unless you are a minesweeper." I believe that the better AIs will eventually build minesweepers and armored fleets capable of forcing their way through a mine field.
