Hi!

Looking for players for an MA game. Since my previous idea didnt proved to be quite popular, I throw in my new one:

map: the land of loemendor (not the scenario one), but will depend on interest, so to be determined.

hosting: on lamaserver, 24 hrs initially with great tolerance to holidays and bigger intervals later as usual.

hof: 15

victory: consensus

mods:
-worthy heroes 1.9 and cbm 1.6 (http://www.nakido.com/F34858CD7ABF0A66BD9083AFC82C6385DFE4F151)
-edm 1.1 (http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=45056)
-mark of the champion (http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=41087)

renaming on

special:
- In this part of the world gossip spreads with the wind, even the walls has ears: any communication, diplomacy, negotiation so any in-game talk must be done here on the forum. No PMing, skyping, emailing etc is allowed about the game. U can still talk about and make any agreements, but everyone will know about it.
roleplaying is encouraged, but not mandatory.
- The admin of the game will list the existing NAPs here in this post, and will keep it updated.

I'm open to suggestions.

bvg : shinuyama

earcaraxe
August 18th, 2010, 07:25 PM
before creating the game (so no uploading yet), i wuold like to ask, whether u prefer to have the special provinces or not, and whether the loemendor map would be ok for everybody. it will be a little packed with 15 provinces per nation.
I think it will be cool.

Grijalva
August 18th, 2010, 09:33 PM
Well, I'm always in favor of a wrap-around map for the sake of balance, but this map has lots of ports and land bridges so it looks pretty good too.

I would definitely vote against the specials though as, like you said, it will be pretty crowded already without super-strong indies fencing us in. :)

The map is fine for me. I do not have preferences about the special sites.
I would like to get a few days (This weekend if possible, at least saturday) before sending pretender. I have never played the nation I choose and it would be nice to get some time to prepare.

Would you be so kind as to upload the mod to a site such as megaupload.com? It requires no installation of proprietary programs, nor deploys many banner ads.

As for the question-- I suspect it is not only allowed, but encouraged. Especially if one puts a flavorful flair on the proposal.

"It seems we've intercepted the errant dream of a Vanjarl, in addition to mead and swords, it would appear that he was slighted in his youth by a female C'tissian falchioner. I choose not to let this vivid psychological trauma go unpunished, and would care to invite the the rest of noble Vanheim to join me."

I've sent my pretender now for 5 times..It still doesn't show on the server.

I made the pretender with right mods (CBM 1.6+WH1.9 combo, endgamediversity and mark of the champion)and sent the file to pretenders@llamaserver.net with the subject: Great_Forum

What do I do wrong?

Is it possible to get a separate version of worthy heroes 1.9? just to check, if the combo file fails somehow.

Sorry for the delay, not intentioned.

I am not sure but both the package Worthy Heroes+CBM and CBM may cause problems (Probably not the one you get, which looks more like a mail issue).

Mistakes I have made you may want to check : Wrong era, wrong file. Maybe wrong game version (3.24) and a misterious issue of mail address being refused by the game server...

I will try to write small notes and make screenshots on a regularly basis in order to make a simple AAR in a while (maybe soon if I am beated out, or with a great gap with the game pace, or anything, I do not know yet). That is just an idea I got when I signed in. I will need motivation (Not a lot but enough to write a few words and make some screenshots each time I will play...). We'll see.

Interesting, Not only have I not agreed to your "proposal", I have already owned all that is south at the time of your proposal. Your proposal brings nothing of value to us but rather seek to bind us for your gain, an ill-intentioned insult you fling in our face indeed.

If you are implying that Thardun lies closer to your capital, I would raise to you that Thardun lies exactly in the middle, 2 provinces away from each of our capital. It is more then obvious that you do not plan to deal in good faith and seek provocation for war.

Do not mistake the declaration of peaceful intent of the Jotuns for weakness, we will gladly accept your declaration of war, prepare thyself.

Your stubbornness and your aggressive territorial expansion leaves us no more other choices !

It is a drama for people so quiet and peaceful as mine. But we shall do everything we can to reconquer the territory of our ancestor.

But we know how to be generous: if you leave this place and let us take up it without bloodshed, we are ready to offer a long-lasting peace between our two countries.

I know that the blood sometimes has difficulty in irrigating a head of giant, but I hope that you will know how to take into account our justifiable territorial request.

And we would raise to your (Vanheim and Pangaea) attention the treachery of Ulm, our offer of peace was meet with the insulting demands (disguised as a "proposal") of these humans.

Our land holdings are wasteland, where crops do not grow and water is more precious then gold. Yet Ulm seek to imprison us in our dead lands and demanding lands required to feed our population, truly their evil have no boundaries.

You will note that our income is lower then that of many others, and Ulm seeks to manipulate us elder kind into warring with each other as are the ways of treacherous humans.

Arnob, The wisdom of elder kinds such as Vans and Pans of nature know of the treachery and deceitful nature of humankinds, your attempts to subvert and scheme among us will have the opposite effect.

I would further invite Vanheim to the cleansing of the humans of Ulm, whose scheming ways are an affront to our nobler elder races. We note that you may rather expand at this point, and am prepared to offer you either NAP 3 or 5 of your choice with the addendum to guarantee leaving Jantal(101) to your people. You will find this a concrete and sincere demonstration of our intentions.

Hello everyone,
I would like to stay neutral in your war, lords of Ulm and Jotunheim. My seeking for peace is sincere. I will not cross the river which stands between us, I expect you will do the same.
As for you, lord of Bandar Log, you may take the Arandor port if you want to, take it as an evidence of friensdship.

We announce to whoever Pangaea's Western Neighbor is, Pangaea's forces are composed mainly of naked women and one such force mixed in with a small contingent of lightly armed Satyrs/minotaur have already meet their demise in our lands to virtually no losses to us. Their total national "army" as of now is composed of less then 140 such naked girls and some satyrs/minotaurs.

It would be an excellent opportunity to conquer some of Pangaea's rich soils while they seek to "overrun" us with naked women (not that our Vaettis mind of course, they get very excited over the recent influx of naked women slaves).

Truly, do save us from laughing ourselves to death against the invading horde of naked women, it has proved highly disruptive to our meetings of Jarls, where decisions on the issue could not be made due to non-stop guffaws.

Barring that, we suppose we must stamp out the Pans and take their rich soils for ourselves.

To Ulm,

The Jarls of Jotunheim scream for your blood with our latest victory, Odin is certainly pleased with the feast of half your total forces for his ravens. It would be easy for the Jotun giants to press forward now, yet I am generous and of a mind to put rein to my Jarls' enthusiasm.

Should you wish for peace at this juncture, I would suggest a gift to placate the Jotun Jarls, lest they refuse even my directive after smelling blood. A gift of 15 E gems should suffice to satisfy my unruly subjects. I believe this offer to be quite generous as things stand now, and that you should find it more then reasonable considering your likely losses and possible demise should this war continue.

I can arrange a NAP 3 for you should you accept the above, or perhaps even a NAP 5 should you prefer if you gift us a famous forge hammer of Ulm in replacement of 15E, or 15E + 250 gold.

Of course, as my Jarls can certainly understand, logic does not always come first and the desire for vengeance may overcome one's sense of self-preservation, I find I should warn you that while the giants can be a fearsome foe, the force you see is but a tip of the iceberg, something worst approaches.

The Silent Sea has quite the awareness of ships passing over it--we've left a large port province exclusively for your use, connecting to the other parts of the world.

There is also some oddness: Man has perhaps one province left quite far away from you; you are unfortunately somewhat late in that regard.

Regarding the Ermorian "empire," It would probably be best for you to simply take by force those provinces that you want since I currently have his capital besieged and I'm sure most of his forces are/will be occupied trying to deal with that situation. This is especially true if you already have NAPs with all of your other neighbors since you may want a good, convenient direction to expand in.

It occurs to us that we should likely emphasize our above condition more stringently, lest there be misunderstanding--

Taking a claimed province (unless disputed, and negotiated upon, at time of claiming) shall be considered an act of war. Not simply a cancellation of peace.

The diplomatic situation is often not solidified before at least twenty hours have passed, giving everyone ample time to review the turn and access the forums-- hence I wait about a day before doing the next turn.
As example, for me, part of this turn will be dependent on Lihaässä's answer:
Do I gear up for spider slaying? Do I forge pitchers for rooibos tea on the beaches?
Completing my turn before finding that out would be problematic.

I check the game status often and plan my schedule accordingly (trying not to delay long if everyone has a quick clip); as it stands now, doing my turn immediately would only cut approximately two hours off the turnover.

That said! I will attempt to complete my turn a few hours earlier, if not immediately.
Hopefully this is acceptable. *huggles Grijalva*

To Muse, Sorry, I got this message after uploading my turn. I have to play my turn rather early because of the time differences. You don't have to gear up for hunting spiders since that beach province holds no real value for us. I have now control over the province and I see you were fast enough building a fort under it. Could we cut this one from the middle, I'll hold the beach for 3 turns ( I conquered it after all ) and then you are free to take it?

I'm also willing to change some E/F/N gems to astral ones, if you're into that?

Otherwise I see no reason not to NAP with folks under the sea.

- Mulungu

To Yonz, Thanks - I'll take that province soon.

That is perfectly acceptable! Our NAP is solidified; in approximately three turns we shall secure the beach, and hopefully enjoy a lasting peace with the sweet smelling spiders!

As for trade... that is an interesting proposition, and one we like!
Usually people wish to purchase our tea, or nori, rarely these pearls.
Mayhaps earth gems for our bonsai pots, at a reasonable ratio of 1.5:1 Astral-to-Earth? (Completely negotiable.)

Think on it, it may be a turn or two before The Humming Fog shall commit to a trade.

I assume when you say 1.5:1 astral to earth, you meant it the other around? Or are you actually offering 1.5 astral gems per earth gems?

On the other hand, the jotuns declare it's intention to trade our N/D for Earth gems at 1:1, or our S for Earth gems at 3:4.

Oh! Yes! You are quite correct. The Void does troubling things to numbers. We did infact mean a ratio of 1:1.5 Astral-To-Earth.

However! With your help has come a stinging backhand it seems-- undercutting us on Astral prices?! *stifled chortle*

A great tragedy has taken place this past month!

Whilst waiting for the enemy's great army to attack Far Amar (88), the mighty monkey armies and our human allies (including some barbarian "advisers") decided to pillage this once-rich province of 21,000+ farmers.

The large monkey-armies soon lost control, went bananas in fact, and slaughtered 11,000+ people while managing to collect some 500+ gold. 500 gold? That's the real tragedy, hardly makes the great "Massacre of Far Amar worth while. I'm never ordering my armies to pillage again. :)

The battle, at least, went very well. :)

We had managed to secure this year's produce, believing it would be for the best, but, alas, failed to consider the option of food-deprived monkeys going berserk. Such a horrendous tragedy.

This is an interesting contention--if you could see the beach provinces, you'd know we were fighting the armies of Man for them.
We can see Man's capital, as we have had to siege it ourselves to prevent further reinforcements from assaulting us.

The Unending Waters are however *still* willing to withdraw from it, granting you the capital, whilst we secure our beaches once more.
You have this turn to maintain the siege; any further pretense to our small waterfront property will gain you only war.

As a minor diplomatic note: The Still Waves claim only those western beaches--the others of the world need not worry.

The conditions have changed since the time we offered this bounty months ago when we need aid most, Pan's army have been destroyed if you look at the score graph in these past months.

We would still offer 50 gems in random combinations of S/D/N for:

Capture of 3 forest provinces in the bottom right corner including capture of Pan's capital (somewhere in the forest or in (2)).

We've done the hard work of wiping out their current army, and you have a choice to be paid to expand your empire (including a capital with 5N income) at this point, a win-win situation.

We would also require a NAP 5 should you wish to take advantage of the offer.

To the world,

The Jarls of Jotun have entered into it's final phase of enacting vengeance against the treacherous Ulm and Pan. We annouce the Bloodfeud, that we shall bring our enemies into the twilight of history with us at all cost, so that all may know in future incarnations that trifling with us carries a heavy price.

We have held on against the onslaught of Ulm and Pan, yet the vast wastelands we call home cannot possibly support us for much longer. We can continue to hold to our defenses for now, though it is a matter of time before our fall.

To Vanheim,

We wish to make you an offer akin to those we gave to Abysia but on a far larger scale: Declare war and aid us in destroying Ulm, and we shall hand over our lands including our capital to you without a fight. We will also gift you with half of all our gems and equipment stock, which is very significant. All of these are yours upon the utter destruction of Ulm. With our help, you should fare well against Ulm, and not only would you gain his lands, but ours as well at the cost of a single campaign with our aid. We further note that Ulm isn't all that strong, neither Pan or them alone would have posed a threat, together Pan and Ulm does exceed our ability to overcome with our poor wastelands.

Finally as Ulm is situated in a corner and given your position, Ulm is certain to be a headache to you if they are allowed to live and expand down to the Eastern edge of the map (Enveloping you on the East with no one at his back).

Should you agree, we shall disclose more information on your request.

To Abysia,

Upon the destruction of Ulm and Pan, we will gift you with the other half of all our gems and equipment, which is far greater then the 50 gems you will get now. We will also gift you with the lands south of the wasteland to you (the larger north including our capital goes to Vanheim if they decide to aid us in our bloodfeud).

Should our offer to Van work out, we can offer more information.

To Any other neighbors of Ulm,

As we are not aware of any other neighbor of Ulm or their locations, we have not factor in an offer for your aid. Do contact us immediately so that I can amend my offer to Vanheim to include you.

Oh dear. This is troubling. And saddening! The Star Children were just beginning to enjoy their sand-castles. I suppose they'll have more sand now, at least.

To clarify, however-- the Krakens are free, quite free. As are their sea troll companions.
The fun I was referring to was of the most sarcastic kind: I've been attacked ostensibly by what amounts to over 100 water gems worth of teleporting armies, complete with mage support. (From the beginning of the game.)

This in addition to the map creator's especial fetish for krakens, triton troopers, and other stealthy magical surprises in independent provinces.

Not that this will prevent us from delivering a most delicious tea to our un-kraken neighbors.

Dear Yonz,

Thanks for playing man! GG

funny side-note: I would have never gone to war with you but for that group of vestals that you moved to our border one turn. Having not heard from you about my NAP3 offer, I decided to move my main army to the border as a precaution. After your forces didn't attack, I thought "well, my army's already there, so...." :smirk:

Hi,
@Arnob, Great Enchantress of Ulm, I am very sad to announce you that we are are going to fight each other. May the most noble and valiant win.
It was obvious to go to war sooner or later.

@Grijalva, lord of Bandar Log, you can say you have a northeast border secured with me, I accept to upgrade the NAP to 5 turns delay. In addition, I sent you all the gems I could (in exchange of death ones). Maybe you will want some more soon ?

@Finalgenesis, lord of Jotuns, I will not save you in time. I help you only because of the fate of my position with Ulm, but it will probably be too late for you...

@Yonz, lord of Ermor, sorry to have helped to bury your nation. Thanks for playing with us :).

Bummer. My moving there was purely preemptive (as was yours, apparently), and it ended in utter disaster. Ambiguous manouvres ftw. <_<
Thanks for the thumbs up, though. No hard feelings from my side, despite the brutal blitz. I really underestimated the power of your forces - I thought vestals would make short work of your monkeys and would be able to stand toe to toe with Tiger Riders so I eagerly deployed them. What a blunder! They seem to work fine against indies, but vs. other sacreds they just don't cut it.

Ehh, looking back I don't think I could've pulled off anything that could save my arse anyway after the war had begun. I'll try to keep good neighbourly relations next time. :)

@Num

Our army size make a deceptive indicator of our remaining strength, we will yet hold on.

And yes we made the offer knowing exactly the geographic considerations for you, hence heaping on a *little* more incentive on top.

Given the changes to Abysia, we confirm that on the utter destruction of Ulm you'll receive the promised half armory/gem hoard + capital and it's everything north from it. Should we actually fall before that happen's we'll send you the promised half the month before our immediate demise.

@All

I still have the other half of my armory and gem reserves plus another nice fort directly south of capital earmarked for the destruction of Pangaeans.

You owe me the death gems in exchange of the astral ones I sent you turns ago (Something like 20).
I cannot finish Ermor remnants (not enough troops to besiege his fortress, I just lost 6 months without any success), you should finish him off yourself and take all the provinces in the forest.
And, at last, it is possible that your northern border will be unsecure sooner or later, but it will not depend on me :o.

Actually, I was about to say something RE Ermor, since his god just broke free and scared off the handful of markatas that 1pd gets me at the old Ermorian capital ---but really his strong dominion has been bothering me. So thanks for being reasonable.

Sorry to hear that the war is going poorly. Are you also at war with Machacka? I noticed you two have no NAP3...

Je vois que vous parlez Français :-)

I do not agree: about is the winner of our war, he will be swept by the other powers later. For the moment we are both losers.

I can extend by the North if you leave me the accesses. I shall want to propose you the following clauses:
- You leave me the access by the North of mountains : All territories on the north of your castle.
- I restore you the territories of your side of the river
- I stop to unrest your capital
- We make a NAP10 (without the necessary exchange of territories of course)

Think about this proposal, it's the only way for both of us to stay in this game at long-term

Your offer is quite worthy, and accepted! The north and west are yours, I shall take the coast and south.

For the northern provinces that we currently hold, we would wish a sum of Earth Gems--however many you can spare, though twenty would be a great boon.

Be advised: Shinuyama has an army headed to those provinces at this very moment, the far north. (Within reach of Last Retreat by next turn, likely.)
His armies under the waves we project will fare less well.

To clarify: We will still require the coastline that we posses currently. It is unlikely that Shinuyama will capture it.

This arrangement should create a lovely funnel directly into his heart, while his coast is raided.

Intel: Ulm has a 200ish unit army recovering lost territories currently at Thardun (106) in the immediate north of Jaurtal (98). The composition in order of abundance: 10 guardians, 31 black plate pike, more normal pikes and mostly crossbowman/sappers.
