@earwicker7 - Pangaea would like to renew the NAP between us with a 3 turn NAP where we agree not to attack each other without at least a 3 turn warning that the treaty will be broken.
We send you this cute, fluffy, killer forest bunni as a sign of our goodwill.

I have returned your bunny, dear sir... hopefully it does not miss it's head :hurt:
Sorry, bro, the treaty was violated when you moved into the buffer zone. No hard feelings, but we're at war.

Hrmm, read back over the messages. :)
I said I was going to take that province to act as a buffer zone between us. I didn't say no one would take it, and then jump into it myself, which would have been rather dishonorable.
So, considering that, I again offer your a 3 turn NAP. :)

I know it's a rookie game, but it's still really balls annoying to lose so badly to such a rookie mistake.
Bottom line, the great Arco/Man battle, every single one of my casters was scripted with a spell that costs one gem as their first action. I forgot to bring any gems.
Result: Not only did I miss out on my first round of powerful essential spells, I also proceeded to have all my casters to not follow script for after that either, and just generally suck ***.

I'm trying to figure out what spell it is. Since your casters are only 2N1A or 3N and one with 2A2S it makes me curious. I'm guessing it'd be Wind Guide for the sorcerer. Maybe Growing Fury? Couldn't be Haste cause that wouldn't have helped. Foul Vapours? No no W mages...
What 'battle changing spell' were you thinking of that requires a gem and able to cast at that level? I know you have Thaumaturgy 2+ and Enchantment3+ and Alteration 3+... Can't find it.
And I made a huge mistake too, I kept my rearmost near my mages. I lost 3 of my good mages! the other 1 of the 4 was just a mystic that I didn't care much about. Also lost a few elephants. Poor dears.

Bad how? Bad for me that he tells other people info? No, it's not very bad. Bad of him to be going around saying **** like that? Yes. It is. It's very bad mannered to go around telling everyone in the game everything about one of the players.
Vanheim gave out Capitol information, and other info on Marignon, but because he's not a huge ****ing dick, deleted the post when he realized it was bad mannered.
Arco insists on escalating his bad manner further and further every turn.

While I am sure he delights in the knowledge that he is pissing me off, because he is a colossal dick, he's already made it abundantly clear that he's the kind of colossal dick that would bad manner the game regardless.

I'm fairly sure you're just saying that in the heat of the moment, but if you're really going to be leaving Shrapnel there are two places I know of that you can go to that are either Dominions 3 based or have threads for it so you don't have to stop playing the MP version of the game.
first is the invision forums for dom3
http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods/index.php?act=idx
second is the SomethingAwful forums, I haven't been there myself. They also charge a 10$ subscription fee.
Can't condone leaving here, since almost all games use these forums on Llamaserver and almost always need a forum post sign in. You'd essentially be quitting Dom 3. Which is silly, cause this game is awesome.
Eitherway, have fun, it was nice playing with you :3

Sorry to interrupt, but I thought I should repeat here what I've written via pm to Kaelik. Our moderators don't read every post made on these forums. Nor we do keep tally of every player in every multiplayer thread. Instead we rely on you all to report posts that you believe violate the forum guidelines using the Report Post icon at the header of the post. This brings a particular post to the attention of moderators for review and action, if deemed appropriate. Kaelik's posts were moderated because they were reported. I've offered him the opportunity to calm down a bit and reconsider how he'd like this to play out.

Attention all nations!
Arcoscephale further requires more space for which to expand, and while Man is being claimed from the East, we now turn our attention to the West.
Shinuyama, Bandar, and R'lyeh. You have entered the scope of this nation.
We are currently...
Leaning towards Shinuyama
Leaning away from BandarLog
"It'd be a huge hassle" from R'lyeh
Become prepared, and know that at this moment, we are currently starting the count down the turns of our NAP 5 we and Shinuyama have. If you'd like to re-direct the attention of Arcoscephale, we may be tempted.
5 Turns remain.

Apparently you have to set everyone to patrol in order to get combat when someone attacks a fort province.

You can check the stale statistics on llamaserver.

Colonial has the PW (and I'm still around), but you don't need the PW for the stalling statistic. If that was you question.
About changing the player, I would wait with starting to talk about it until he missed/stalled two turns in a row.

It would horrendously unbalance the game if he dropped. Essentially free provinces/forts for R'lyeh, Bandar, Man, and maybe Aby if he can reach over there. While Me, Pangaea, and Shinuyama are stuck up north fighting amongst ourselves.

True, but he's staled three times in one week. That's bordering on 50%, which is totally throwing the balance out of whack, favoring those nations at war with him.
My opinion... ask for him to gracefully bow out. If he doesn't, give him a final warning that, if he misses one more turn, he's getting switched to AI.
Why are people so averse to just asking for an extension??? He's obviously not incapacitated or anything; I'm sure he's just really busy and doesn't have time to play, but the nice thing to do would be to admit it, ask for the occasional extension, or, if that won't work, move on, instead of dragging the game down.

What has he said on the matter? I assume with all this sub talks he's said atleast SOMETHING about it to anyone. If he stalls again it'll be number 4 which is basically saying 'I quit'
I'm leaning on giving it to the sub. If he refuses to say anything then give it to the sub since he's obviously too busy. if he says Yes I can stay in it was all coincidence etc then let him keep it.

I'm also leaning towards giving it to the sub. I'd be willing to cut him some slack if he had bothered asking for an extension, but staling three times in one week, WHEN YOU'RE WINNING THE GAME, with no communication, gives me the impression that he'll turn in his moves when it's convenient, but otherwise will just say, "Eh, why bother?" I believe that, if he's allowed to stay, it's only a matter of time before the problem comes up again.

"Otherwise Ryleh can do as he wants; he's made no aggressive moves towards me."
the thing is, putting up the Forge of the Ancients is an aggressive move against you, and the rest of us! Forge of the Ancients gives him a 50% discount on all items! and it stacks with hammers(Dwarven as well as the special artifact ones)! imagine what he can do with all those items, and the ability to forge artifacts(construction 8, which he has). that's why the Forge of the Ancients is considered as 1 of the game breaking globals, up there with Astral Nexus, Arcane Corruption, Utterdark, etc. casting any of those basically means "I win the game unless everyone gangs up on me to stop me", now it's up to us to gang up on him and stop him, just like he asked us to do...
Colonial
January 2nd, 2011, 06:50 PM
so forge of the anchients plus hammer of the forge lord would mean a 100% reduction, but the maximum is 90% so that is what it gives, correct?
so even if you have no gems left over, you might as well forge a 5 gem thing for free, and if you have a few go with a ring of wizardry for 6 gems or that pimp-assed death armer for 4 gems?
yeah, sounds like a deal...
===========================
right so in the list of 'game breaking' artifacts, most of them personally f**k up every other empire (like utterdark or astral corruption), with the exception of this one and the arcane nexus. this one we know, the nexus gives its owner 1 pearl for every 2 gems (actual gems, not pearls or slaves) spent by every player that term. this often means 100+ pearls and 2 wishes per turn.
the one we are dealing with means equiping a mad SC which would normally cost 40-50 gems to equip for like a tenner...

Sure, if I wasn't running in third place this might be a concern. But let's face it.
I am not currently winning the game. I might, if you are GENEROUS consider that I am running a distant third. Why would you gang bang me in this circumstance? I'm not an immediate threat. There is a future in which I will be a threat, but it is a distant future indeed.
Colonial and Nosantee currently winning the game. I know you are pissed at me personally Blackguard, because, along with Man and Colonial I am currently attacking you. Sorry, bad situation with the guy you are subbing for who decided to be a bit of a tool.
Nothing I can do about that. Someone else in this game is already packing the steel ovens, someone else is running at over twice my RP, and has been for the entire game, and someone else is about to summon end game SCs (I do not have access to any SCs atm except golems).
The only person who is really incentivised to attack me this game is you:
Nosantee (Current game leader, imho) is already fighting two people, and has to watch colonial
Colonial is already fighting you (he can stop though), but he has to bulk up enough to be equal to Nosantee once Nosantee finishes eating Man and Shinu
Abysia/Pangea: Attacking me ensures that we both lose the game. Taking me down will hurt, and I will make them pay. If they took me out, they are going to be looking at Nosantee or Colonial having a game winning lead.
Of course, you are in a bad position with me. Indeed, kicking me out of your turf is probably a great move. I respect this.
It is also the reason you are calling a lynch mob on me. But let's be absolutely clear: The only reason to kill me is to get me off Marigon's back, if you think that will help ensure that colonial will not get a run away lead.
To that end, I am willing to talk turkey on a peace deal if you are :)
Additionally, to ensure that the delta I gain from the forge will be controllable, I extend offers of discounted forging to everyone who is not currently yanking my chain. It has to REMAIN profitable for me, but I will forge you you
Regards,
The Squids.

How many of his mages have 3W and 1N for clam production?
All of his slave mages
How crazy is his W income? He's under water... How good is his E income for hammers? He cast FotA didn't he? Just some thoughts for some of you to keep in mind

Wow, now you're deliberately misrepresenting the truth even after I corrected you in IRC.
Only 1/4 slave mages has a nature random. This is very much different from 'all my slave mages' For further reference, all my slave mages with a nature random can make clams without the forge :)

CthulhuDreams, you got it all backwards. I don't have any beef with you personally, nor with Man, his invasion is pathetic and I will crush it soon anyway without too much problem. I do have a beef with propaganda and bull**** though, and that's what you're currently trying to use.
FotA is a game breaking global, ask anybody on IRC and he'll tell you that. you say you're currently 3rd, let me ask you, in what? income, gems, provinces, forts, military size, research? oh yeah, and there's this little other problem, being that the graphs are off... so what exactly do you base this claim upon? other than propaganda and bull**** that is...?
"I am not currently winning the game" I just subbed into this game, so my information is very limited, but with the graphs being off I'd say it's safe to say nobody really knows who the current winner is, if there is even 1 nation that is a clear winner at this point.
"Why would you gang bang me in this circumstance?" circumstance? no offense but you brought this onto yourself as soon as you put the FotA up, don't blame everyone else for your wrong doings, accept the consequences of your actions.
"I'm not an immediate threat. There is a future in which I will be a threat, but it is a distant future indeed." future threat? last time I checked you have a golem in my lands with the Sickle(1 of the better artifacts available) which means that you have const8 researched and quite a few artifacts already(as the Sickle is not the first artifact you usually forge). being an UW nation you had a very easy time to remote search all your provinces with Voice of Tiamat, so you should also have a hefty gem income at this stage. const8+massive gem income+FotA=fatal combination. oh yeah, and I didn't even mention that we're playing vanilla, so your hidden gem income is probably huge as well, which makes the "circumstances" as you wanted to call them, so much worse.
as for the rest of the information you willingly shared with us. I have no idea whether it's factual information or mere propaganda on your end, after all the bull**** you mixed in I, and everyone else, need to take it with a grain of salt. however, if what you say is true, than you just made the worst move you could have made. you painted a large red target circle on your forehead instead of divert the attention away from you. so now everyone must focus on you because of the FotA before you spin out of control, instead of the other "game leaders" as you say(again, assuming what you said here is in fact the truth).
so, I have a proposition for you. either you dispel your own global(either kill the caster or waste pearls actually dispelling it) this turn, or suffer a gang bang to bring it, and you, down. if by next turn we still see the FotA up consider it as open season on you.

first, 'hidden gem income'... unless I'm mistaken, its all hidden.
second, his analysis of the power levels isn't too inaccurate, as of last turn I would have said:
1. Arco
2. Marignan
3. Bandar and R'yleh more or less tied
of course I have no better information than anyone else. That is heavily influenced by out respective territories.
so yeah, the forge is kind of painting a big target on his head...

"I am not currently winning the game" I just subbed into this game, so my information is very limited, but with the graphs being off I'd say it's safe to say nobody really knows who the current winner is, if there is even 1 nation that is a clear winner at this point.
It's easy enough to work out - Marigon probably has the most limited scouting position.
But, if as you say you have no idea who is winning, maybe you should just start asking people. I'm happy to cough up scouting information to you, and you can independently confirm it with whomever you like. You can also confirm that the only land provinces I have are those near you, and thus I am not actually that big.
Then you can confirm that I'm not spouting propaganda and bull****. If you also ask someone what turn I conquered Atlantis' capital (which is a chokepoint blocking me from 10 ocean provinces) you can even tell I was not doing very well. Despite Atlantis staling 3 turns at the start of the game Marigon had conqueror-ed the entire south continent before I had captured my 11th province.
I rate you lower than Bandar because I figure you don't have many mages and Bandar has lots, but obviously YMMV. As for the target thing:
I have to do something DRAMATIC to win the game, as I am behind in all aspects. My personal view is I am less than 50% of a front running research per turn count, and I don't have enough gold to max out my mage production so I am falling further behind with every turn.
I'm betting that Colonial, Nosantee and yourself have other fish to fry. Which you do. And you all know it.

Truthfully I've finished this war. His last stand army is down and he's only got a small fleet of commanders in my territory that I'm taking care of this turn. The march is back on and I'll be seiging his cap by turn 44.
It was a difficult fight honestly. Him finding the site that gave him astral mages made this a whole lot harder (Anti-Magic is a pain in the arse) and heavily saved him from utter slaughter at the hands of Eye of the Void equiped Mind Hunters.

Llamabeast is recommending that everyone just go ahead and patch the game, as he says it is extremely difficult to keep a game going otherwise, as one of the players will inevitably patche their version. However, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea for everyone to make a backup of their trn and 2h files before submitting their last unpatched turn.

36 hours is bad as it means host time shifts by 12 hours every time, so people with a schedule(work, school, etc) need to find different times to do their turn each time, instead of reserving a certain period of the day whenever its available to do their turn each time. we're late enough in the game to warrant 48 hour turns anyway, heck some games would be on a 72 hour schedule at this stage in the game...

I have to agree with this... what's the big rush for 36 hours? I was always under the impression that, as the game goes longer, the turn time increases, not decreases. I don't understand this reasoning. You would need to submit the turn ASAP, but if you do, you could still play the turn at the same Time of day with an 36 Hour shedule.
Sometimes you would need to wait for the next day, but you could do it, if you want.

why would you need to submit the turn ASAP? that's a huge limitation already... sometimes you don't have the time right away, and need the delay. a 36 hour schedule basically means that once every 2 turns you lost a good 6-8 hours of potential dominions time due to sleeping. also for people who are used to do their turn each time at the same hour, these 12 hour shifts really make a difference. there's really no reason to keep turns away from normal whole day intervals, so 24, 48, 72, etc.

I think what he is getting at is that a lot of us have routines, and Dominions falls at a certain time every day. For example, some of us only have spare time at night, so let's say there is three hours worth of micromanaging; with 48 hours, I can be somewhat relaxed and do 90 minutes a day. With 36 hours, depending on where the time falls sometimes I'd get 90 minutes, sometimes I'd have to dedicate three hours.

So, it looks to me like the llamaserver decided, as it has been doing lately, to arbitrarily postpone our turn a day or two, which got everyone impatient and gave us the idea of 36 hour turns.

...If you don't have it then I guess you're SOL unless you saved that .2h file.

Quick post to say that only the player(s) needing to make changes should submit a turn file during a rollback. Or just CthulhuDreams in this case.
The llamaserver still has all the previous turn files that were sent in (even though the status page says "waiting for .2h file"), and if it doesn't receive a new turn file, it will use these old turn files when the turn hosts. So nobody will stale who didn't stale last time.

Ah, nevermind.
this was going to be a long post about how everyone needed to re-upload, and how annoying that was. I'm glad to hear thats not the case.
we should be looking at the genuine turn 47, with all the dice re-rolled, tomorrow afternoon. or earlier is Cthulu is quick...
Edit: well afternoon my time, whatever that is for you all...

Ok gentelmen,
I've rolled back the turn. I'll give Cthulu around 24 hours to fix up his armer of vertue problem, then re-host.
fingers crossed there are no ****ups.
I'm at work right now, but will do it ASAP :)
Edit: ASAP means in 8-9 hours.

So.. anyone want to buy the armor of virtue? It's not buggy at all and won't eat your commanders... if your capital is on the surface :D
It's actually pretty bling for a low HP thug relying on awe, luck and ethernalness not to get hit.

As the host has indicated, my income has suddenly sky-rocketed but it is not from cheating. As you can tell, Cthulu has cast Well of Misery and from it springs increased tax revenue from all provinces.
This has aparently given me an additional 700gold/turn. Going from 7500 to 8200. Thank you R'lyeh, I appreciate the boost.
PS: Damnit Abysia, it was funny when you were doing so little with assassinations, but you just killed a very important magic item holding mage in a stack of 60 other commanders, what are the damned odds?

Okay, there is without a doubt some bugging out going on. all of my mystics hired last round have turned into hoplites (Still has their magic) and a scout has turned into a Mystic with no magic.
Each of the hoplites I hired 1 of them turned into mystics! This game seems a little ****ed at the moment. One the upside, I now have many S2-3 mages with PROT 18! HAHA!
I also seem to own Ferrus the Iron Mage not as a merc, but actually OWN him in my capital without having placed a bid.
I think the rollback and re-doing of the turn between patches has messed some things up since when I first got the turn it was fine last time.

yeah, rollback+new patch is just asking for disaster. too bad you guys rolled the game back so quickly, and I was busy with other things that day, so I didn't even reply in this thread. but as 1 of you said here earlier, I would have strongly objected to it because of these exact things. a bug with armor of virtue? I'm pretty sure it was a known bug already, in fact armor of virtue has quite a few bugs related to it that are known. that certainly is no reason for a rollback Imho, especially when also transitioning into a new patch.
I haven't looked at my new turn yet, so I have no idea how it's looking from my perspective. but I suspect you're not the only 1 with bugs. we'll have to wait and see how many other bugs already popped up for everyone else to see where we want to go from here. but for next time, please for the love of god stop being so trigger happy regarding rollbacks! rollbacks are a serious trouble spot, which is why llamabeast posted that warning on llamaserver and requests you to submit "I am sure", he did that from experience, not because he's a meanie. it's a known issue that keeps repeating itself in various manifestations, basically it's a beast better left slumbering than awakened.

s**t! I'd bet it's a rollback f**kup.
I have no idea how to deal with this. I think the choices are:
1. Live with it
2. Try another rollback, and hope this one comes without bugs
3. Pester Llamabeast, or someone else who knows what they are doing
4. Throw in the towel on the game
Anyone who checks this post, please drop a reply saying which one to go for.
Personally I'm leaning towards another rollback.
Right, yeah, good point on the Rollback+Patch over...

rolling back for an AoV bug is a no-no. AoV is always somewhat unreliable - you want to use it, you take the risks.
Your only real option I think is to rollback, wipe out all the .2h's and have everyone complete a fresh turn - do not resubmit the old turn!
good luck :)

I say we just live with it. I seem to be the only one effected anyway and it doesn't hurt me too much (Well, 13 unusable in combat hoplite mystics cause they have spellcasting enc 15 sucks and 13 mystic UNITS instead of hoplites)

no further rollback, as long as Shinuyama isnt finished off ;)

yeah, that's 1 of the main issues. many people don't realize that after a rollback you need to delete both the .trn and .2h files before inserting the rollbacked turn. that's 1 of the primary sources of rollback induced errors. than there are the other usual suspects like people using different OPs(operating systems, windows xp, vista, 7, as well as various linux and whatever else people use), than you mix the usual random errors related with rollbacks and on top of it all add a new patch. it was just a horrible decision to make this rollback to begin with, but we can't spin back the wheel, so I just hope you new game hosts out there learn from all these mistakes and stop being so trigger happy on clicking the rollback option for any minor issue that pops up in whatever game. it's just not worth it.
so, as we can't spin back the wheel, we gotta make do with what we have. I doubt rerolling back after a rollback+patch will actually solve the problems, not to mention not add any new problems. however it's worth a shot as we can't really continue with a variety of bugs. I'm afraid that eventually we'll have to throw in the towel, but before that we certainly need a rollback, delete all the previous files and submit new turns(not the previous turns like the current rollback).

Okay, someone has to explain this sixth global **** to me. I know I put more pearls into that damn Nexus than anyone has put into any enchantments to date, yet somehow Pangaea's Carrion Woods, with 90 gems DISPELLED my freaking 170 pearl Nexus on the ****ing turn it was cast.
I really- REALLY need someone to explain to me how this damn system works cause at the moment it just looks like 'cast a global, replace an old global of any size and price no problem!'.

I don't know how the globals work. but let me put forward my emmence gratitude that we arn't having to deal with a nexus at this stage :P.
I was sure the mother oak was toast when I saw 2 globals...
guess the lategame has begun, gentlemen.
