Attacking with units that have stealth

If a unit and or commander have stealth do you have to sneak them in a territory first before attacking. I noticed when using Vanheim with their horse commander Vanherse and Van cavalry that they will not join in on a attack unless they sneak in the territory ahead of the main army.

I finally bought this game and so far I am loving it. Any graphic boosts mods out there? I'm still digging thru listed mods. Currently I am using the CBM 1.92 and banners mod.

When a unit has stealth, clicking on a provence sneaks them there, control clicking on a province moves them there. so if you want them to attack a province, you need to hold control, then click on the province to attack.

Its still a bit of an annoying system, and you often forget and only attack with half your army or something.

Is there a point to sneaking into the province before attacking? You don't even get a surprise attack bonus or anything.
