Sorry for staling but I must say I'm quite bored with this sisyfos exercise of chasing each others thugs around switching provs, I hope this stalemate is broken soon one way or the other. It would be interesting to hear how you others feel about the game and how you judge your chances. Myself I'm not sure, it's a mess trying to evaluate this game.

No worries. We are used to stales, people disappearing, etc. As far as judging chances I see Agartha and Pangaea having the best chance with myself and Niefel in the 2nd tier. Of course I could be wrong on that.
I should have a final decisive war with Atlantis soon to finish him off then I'll probably enter the fray more with ya'll. I think if Niefel and I join in, it will speed things up a bit.

I feel like I'm desperately plugging holes in a levee with all my fingers and toes while the tide behind keeps rising. It's funny that in the current circumstances, black harpies and centaur hierophants can hold off artifact-kitted tartarians by using Flavian tactics. Maybe not hold off so much as make them run in circles. Then there's blood saccing plus vampires which is simply awesome defensively and all that's keeping Fantomen from rolling right over my homelands.
But it definitely feels like the levee is about to go, especially with the water queens deployed I won't be able to raid the sea anymore, and those poison golems look like dedicated vampire killers.
So long-term, I don't like my chances much, although I don't know how much of an impact it would have if Niefel and Helheim joined in fully. Might be enough, might not be. If Adam J was still around I'd be more sanguine, but since TC is now AI...
For me it looks like Helheim's position is slightly better than Niefelheims: both are blood nations, but both have death scales and so won't have a lot of slaves. Helheim has a massive research edge though.
All in all it's starting to be a bit of a slog, but I'm reluctant to give up prematurely with victory having been a distinct possibility before Fantomen took charge of the underground menace. Also it's been immensely instructive so far, and I'm loathe to give up on that, too.

Ok, I'll try to put some effort in. If someone reads this post in time I'd like a small extension.

I just finished my turn feeling slightly optimistic

I postponed 24 hours. Yea. Really. Don't try too hard. 10 turns ago I thought was completely done. Now I feel like I have a cockroaches chance during a nuclear war!

Yea - this is kind of strange, interesting to see a world that spoiled, though I have little chance of winning. Still having fun, though ...

I'm sorry for staling last turn. To compensate I now did two turns back to back. I'm going out of town over the weekend, leaving tomorrow. So I would like a postponement until monday morning if that's okay.

I didn't. Is it possible the mage that cast it bit the dust?

Oh - I found the light switch.
From this quote it sounds like schoelle dispelled it. The caster is safe and sound

Jup - found the dark too depressing ... of course, its only 180 death gems, so easy to re-cast.

Just a heads up. Pangea is blood saccing us to oblivion, I can't do nothing about it, but helheim and Niefelheim can both blood sac to push back.
Oh, and I turned the light off again, it was too bright for my eye.

Bummer. We have been blood saccing, but would help if we had a few more temples. To build temples we need money. Hard to work in the dark!!!! :)

Well, if by "us" you mean Agartha, then yes, I'm doing my best to roll out the red carpet for my vampires. And while I'm trying to concentrate it on our borders, Helheim especially is taking some spillage. Sorry 'bout that, matty. But needs must where the Forge Lord drives...

Dominion warfare is always global, you might get me first by concentrating on my borders, but looking at the dom graph it's easy to see that it's pretty much a war on everyone.
I'm not saying it because I'm trying to get help for myself, actually if Nief and Hel starts dompushing I will only die faster! I just want them to know what's coming so they can prepare to counter it.

Yes. I've been watching it for awhile now. Ironically Jotwebe has me on the brink of a domkill in another game also! (though that one is pretty much decided anyway). I've been trying to keep my head above water for awhile. I hope I can stay there :).

Just a warning: I am starting my holiday next Saturday morning, and will travel to France. I will try to get an internet stick for my laptop there ASAP, but I might not be able to do so on Sunday. I should be able to get internet by Monday, latest.

Right then, John_Madlock canceled our NAP three turns ago anyway, so I guess the giants are getting their attack orders on this one.
I don't think it'll be long before the pale ones succumb to domkill with probably everybody else blood sacrificing. I have to say by now I'll be sorry to see the darkness go.
Looking forward to see how well my vampire army will perform against the 'heims. I think they'll carry the day (or the night, as it may be) in the end, but it's sure going to be interesting for a bit.
And a big thank you to Fantomen for giving us a hand when the number one nation lost its player, and sticking to it even when I'm sure I played super annoying :D

Pangaea has lots of Maenads. 20 HP, not-mindless, high morale with berserk. Just don't tell me they are no upkeep units O_O

Indeed they do not cost any upkeep. The high HP is from the gift of health global though. Mostly they hang out in my forts.

Yeah, Fantomen conceded. At the time I thought that post was pretty clear, but we were PMing and that may have colored my perception. So to make it definite: Agartha is out, it's Pan against the Heims.
You guys should decide whether you want to leave Agartha staling or set it to AI. Fantomen was concerned that the AI would suicide the global casters in stupid attacks and that would help me. I dunno, I actually rather like the darkness by now. Expecting a domkill any time now, anyway.
mattyburn7
September 12th, 2012, 08:09 PM
I agree with you on the domkill. I'm fine leaving as-is. I know we are in big trouble...at least I am. I'll put up a fight though. Won't go into a hole. We'll probably find out pretty quickly whether I can help pull off a miracle.
Regardless, this game has been a pleasure. Its been rough with all the substitutes. Thanks for sticking to the end...and thanks to all the subs.

Excellent! A fight is all Charles Darwin wants, if not necessarily a fair one.
Have to say I really like the game size too, on the 200+ maps the endgame gets awfully tedious. Plus the swift turnover of leaders was interestesting... Caelum dies to TC dies to Agartha dies to Pangaea dies to- nobody, I should hope!
mattyburn7
September 13th, 2012, 07:46 PM
Yes...and for a smaller map we have still managed a longish game. The several other games I've played on maps like this have degenerated into all out war very quickly.
C'mon. I think its time for one of the Heims to be leader!
