As SEIV is a sci fi game, based heavily around ships, and with ships that are fully customizable even in look. I thought I would ask, what is your favorite scifi starship??????

Earth Omega Destroyers

My favorite(s) would be:
Mon Calamari Cruisers (they're in Ep.VI, kinda looks like an elongated and lumpy egg)
A-Wings (the wedge-shaped fighters in Star Wars)
White Stars (B5)
Shadow Vessles (B5)
Hammerheads (Space: Above & Beyond)
Galactic Semi (from now defunct Online game, SpaceMerchant, and I believe the only ship that got an official picture)
Only ships I don't really like are the Trekkie ships, the two engine things just seem completely wrong. Newer Versions that I've seen make it a little better than the '60s, but it still doesn't really seem right.

My Favorites are; Roboteck series fighters, fightng those big zentrady ships love that omega fighter, its plasma missle go thru the enemy like swiss cheese instead of exploding hahah . Battlestar Galactica was a cool looking ship. It looked more 'realistic' in a sense than almost any other major SciFi ship. (Erm, even though it operated in 2 dimensions... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif ) The ships on Space: 1999 were actually quite good. Both the 'Eagle' flying from the Moonbase and the various alien ships were very realistic. It's too bad the show itself was so uneven. But undoubtedly the very coolest SciFi ships were the 'organic' tech ships on Babylon 5. The Shadow 'battlecrab' ships, the Vorlon 'squids', and 'Vorlon-derivative' Whitestar ships were all more dangerous looking than an entire fleet of Star Trek tinker-toy ships. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Star Trek ships may look good from certain angles but they don't look like real space ships, and that is essential to really looking 'good' in my mind.

I've never really liked the star wars ships. They do have some nice fighters though.
I kinda like some star trek ships, but as mentioned earlier, you get some of them from the wrong angle and they just look ugly.
B5 has some very nice ships. I can't wait to see the new series, the cgi crew for B5 has really gotten a lot better.
What? No adnromeda fans out there? It has some of the most complex looking ships in Sci Fi.

hmm... The Red Dwarf was pretty cool. Also, I loved some of the ships in ther Elite series of games- the classic Cobra MkIII, the gecko, the viper...

Definitely, the Imperial Star destroyers from Star Wars are my favorite ships and have been for, well, twenty-plus years. I also like the troop ships from Starship Troopers. My favorite fighter is probably the Gunstar from The Last Starfighter.

I think the Heart of Gold (Hitch Hiker's Guide) was probably one of the most entertaining ships in any sci-fi series I have ever seen/read.
The Dark Knife (one of the Bab 5 ancient ships) was also pretty cool, but it was barely seen in the show.

As an old player of Star Fleet Battles, (both the paper and the Miniatures Version), I loved the Lyran and Gorn ships from there. Maybe I can post a few paint jobs at my site some day.

Completely forgot about the gunstar! That is definitely the coolest fighter to date.
Superstar destroyer? Firghtening? Come on, it's a giant cheese wedge in space. I think the Shadows from B5 had some frightening ships.
Puke

it may be a cheese wedge, but its impressive in a monolithic sort of way. the big black rectangles managed to look impressive in 2010. its just sort of daunting.
some really cool capital ships are to be found in the warships section of BattleTech Technical Readout: 2027, the one on lost starleague technology. I think the newer ships look like ***, but Loose's old artwork was top notch. there are also some sweet fighter designs strewn about various battletech books.
another cool fighter, were the ones flown by the big-blue-neohumans in that short lived animated saturday morning show where the humans were over thrown by their own genetic creations and were fighting a guerilla war against them from the moons of jupitor in these powered suits. the Cap ships in that serise were not bad either. what was its name? the only guys name I remember was Bronskie, who at one time was heard to say "Theres nothing like making sure!" after truely overkilling a neohuman. YES! a saturday morning cartoon that glorified war and violence, no wonder it was short lived. i dont think anyone even died in GI JOE, the sensitivity trained wusses.

Exo-Squad. The paint jobs on the fighter craft and Exo-frames looked silly, but yes it was a rather cool show.
Hm. I do like the Andromeda show. Especially since a few battles I've seen on them appear to take distance in space into account. Eg, Rommie fires a bunch of missiles. Show a bunch of dots on the tactical display. Then cut to scene of a bunch of missiles blowing away the target.
"The Basilisk has turned into a planet... no wait, it's firing planets. Lots of planets." -Trance Gemini, watching sensors as said ship fires it's point singularity projector.

Hands down this has gotta be the 'Argo' (Starblazers) for me. Followed closely by the Phoenix (Battle of the Planets/G-Force). It's not really a ship but I also like the T.A.R.D.I.S (Dr.Who). Now the most fearsome looking ship has to go to a Super Star Destroyer (Vader's ship in Empire). http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Ship - toss up for me between any of the Earthforce capital ships from Babylon 5, or the Saratoga from 'Space above and beyond' (definately not the Chig carriers which look liked the cold frames I grow my herbs in)
Fighter - still think the Starfighter out of Buck Rogers was pretty nifty - had a bit more of a killer look to it than the Viper

a cube? a train? come on, man!
edit: how about Legends of the Galactic Hero's? i liked all of their ship designs. also, Reha Gall Force had some cool looking ships in parts 2 and 3.
I also liked the fighter and capital ship designs from the Wing Commander and Privateer series. I also thought that the cap-ships from the movie sequences of the game G-POLICE were darn nice looking.

Did anyone read the old Epic (Marvel) comic Alien Legion? They had some pretty cool capital ships - the only thing I have seen in movies that came close was the Aliens Colonial Marine's ship.

Puke, I think you spend far too much time watching spurious sci-fi TV shows or playing dodgy computer games - I havn't even heard of half this stuff
OTOH - I do think the capital ships in Colony Wars were pretty good

No, I seriously havn't heard of most of these things you are talking about - keep in mind that those of us without Sky/cable in the UK only have 5 tv channels which limit your SF viewing choice to Farscape and Startrek at the moment. They have stopped showing Babylon 5

you are still most likely right about me watching to much sci-fi. Galactic Heros was an animated TV serise that ran in the 70s, if i recall correctly. you might be able to find episodes at comic stores or anime clubs. Reha Gall force was a Japanese anime from the 80s. I presume you know about wing commander, and G-Police was a Playstation game that was ported to the PC. it had a intro movie featuring a cool looking warship, but in the game its self you just flew police fighters inside of a domed city.

Yes, http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif and it had several modular components depending on the mission. My favourite is the one for atmospheric flight, with a sharp front and a big back with huge engines. Really cool! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

My favorite Sci-Fi ship is the "Dark Star" from the John Carpenter movie. Not really because of the design, but because of the nifty bombs that it carries http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif .

It has to be the USS Defiant from Star Trek. Sleek, fast, handy ship designed for war - you can attack and run while the slow dreadnought attempts to catch up. Love it when the phaser bank and quantum torpedoes fire simultaneously.
