How do you overcome self-destruct?

I've been testing out the SEIV and SEIV Gold demos (waiting for the full Version to come out) and I want to know, is there is any way to overcome a ships self-destruct mechanism when trying to board a ship?

I've tried disabling it by taking out the engines with an engine destroying weapon (self-destruct description said that it overloaded the engines) but that proved fruitless. Is there some tech in the full Version that can overcome this pesky self nuking component or am I just going about this the wrong way? Any advice would be welcome.

No, there isn't. The only way to overcome a SSD would be to fire at the ship blindly and hope that it gets destroyed before the rest of the components in the ship.
