So, does anybody know of good free (or low cost) web hosts (preferably that have cgi-bin support)? When I try and search for them in search engines, most of what I get is "free hosting, as long as you pay $35 to register a domain name with us." I know of the following:
www.spaceports.com (http://www.spaceports.com)
www.angelfire.com (http://www.angelfire.com)
www.tripod.com (http://www.tripod.com)
www.geocities.com (http://www.geocities.com)

I hate Lycos (angelfire and tripod), and geocities doesn't look too appealing to me. I don't know what is going to happen with the sublime spaceports, cause they have been having financial difficulties for the past several months.

Well, I am not planning on moving my site just yet. I really like spaceports. I am just trying to be prepared in case they go under. How much web space do they give you? You could email or private message me if you don't want everyone and their brother to know.

Here's another host that might be good:
www.t35.com/ (http://www.t35.com/)

Ok, www.t35.com (http://www.t35.com) is good if you don't have any files larger than 150 KB. As I do, it is not a good site for me.

So, anybody want to offer up any good free web hosts that they've seen? I don't want to move my site. What I need is to find one or more free hosts that will work as mirror servers for the Image Modpack.

How much space do you require?

Currently, the full Image ModPack is 10.6 MB in size (without including any patch files). So, to keep up with it's growth, at least 15 MB, but more would be better.

The patches usually very from 2.5 MB to 4 MB or so. So, a good web host with 5 MB of storage could be used as a mirror for the patches.

Preferably, any web host used for this would allow off-site file/image links, although this is not strictly necessary.

Um... you can also place the Image ModPack in PBW's download area, if you wish. That's free http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Yeah, but that would be really annoying, because we can't delete the files that we upload here anymore. We have to get Richard to do it. So when the Image ModPack is updated, which used to happen quite frequently, we'd have to wait for Richard to delete the old Versions. That's why SJ decided not to upload it here in the first place.

Fyron, if you need a mirror for the ImageMod let me know. I have enough webspace for the whole thing.

Cool! More mirrors are always welcome. Suicide Junkie is the official coordinator guy for the mod, so you'll need to inform him, so he can list your site on the main page.

Imagemod mirrors are always welcome.

Check out my site (http://www.geocities.com/hohoho611ca/index.html#imagemod) and copy what you need from the imagemod.

Does your site support off-site image links? If so, you can use the same HTML code bits as my primary mirror, and your status will automatically update from offline to Online to whatever.

Plus what Fyron's said already.
The imagemod thread is called:"Official Image Collection?" (http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=23&t=004545)
