Big wind storm ripping through Michigan and the NE today.
I am worried that UPS or Fed-ex left my copy of SE4G on my porch and it has blown down the street!
I am off to search the brambles...

I did go look down the street, and I saw a cardboard box with a white label on it. "Oh my poor baby!!", I thought. But upon closer examination I found that it was only a bleached out pizza box.
Phew! I guess my copy will probably be arriving Monday.
Power has been 'flinching' around here all night too, and a power transformer must have exploded somewhere nearby: beautiful blue light-show!

At my place, there was just the occasional voltage drop.
However, it was enough to repeatedly reset my new computer (blink...bootup...blink...bootup). Somehow, the other four machines in the room weren't affected, and kept on running.
A few hours later, It seems quiet outside, and I boot it up. It just gets to the desktop, then BLINK. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif
At least things are running OK now, and there dosen't seem to be any damage

My apartment is on the third floor of the building. The UPS driver was a new guy, and didn't notice the entry door on the second floor porch, so he came up the fire escape and knocked on that door.
Since nobody ever uses the fire escape, when I heard the knock I went to the front door. Nobody there, so I went out the front door, saw the UPS truck, and went around the side of the building, meeting the UPS driver as he came back down the fire escape.
[Edit] BTW, SE IV comes in a brown padded envelope, not a white box.
The power went out here three times Last night, but the computer is on an Uninterruptable Power Supply, so I could shut it down normally.

power outages.... I actually miss them to a degree.
Rarely when I lived in Reno NV did we have them. The closest outage was a 15 second rolling brown out. Funny as hell. Looked like the wave.
But now in Orlando... 3 modems, a monitor, several ram chips and a CD-rom later...

Holland has been windy past month as well.
Maybe a sign of impending doom?

Just a sign of impending El Nino.

Now after reading all of these Messages about how terrible the weather is, I am reminded why I moved back to Arizona from Chicago. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
Of course I still haven't had SEIV Gold delivered yet,but I do get to grill steaks outside today in lovely 70 degree weather, so there is some balance in the universe...

Or you could just come to Cali, great weather, shorts all year long and great skiing within 4 hours of my house, only problem is that it says gold will take like 7 days to get here.

Mac, you have no power? can't play SEIVG? but can post on the site?
Sorry to hear about all the bad weather guys - you may be delighted to know that true to form, the weather in Manchester is horizontal driving wet rain with an option on sleet and drizzle - I havn't ordered Gold yet so I am not waiting for a delivery man
Mac, you have in-laws that are still alive? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Rain? What's that? At least that's what I was thinking late Saturday night when we finally got a long-saught-after rainfall.
Thought the new siding was gonna blow off the house though.
Just checked UPS tracking and SE4G should be arriving Wednesday. Haven't ever played any Version but am looking forward to it since I got disgusted waiting for other new space 4X games to publish. I had even reloaded ST:BOTF. Imagine my delite when I downloaded and checked some of the ST shipsets available from the modders here. Great work!

Greetings Wr8th, welcome to the forum and speaking as another SEIV novice (and a wet one being in Manchester), you are going to get a buzz out of this game
