Could someone tell me how to construct other facils on other planets in other systems. I cannot seem to do it. After I have colonized the planet with on of my ships I still cannot construct anything on that planet.

Thanks.

*EDIT* I have tired to make a spaceport as the first facil and it still says that it will never be completed.

Sounds like you have forgotten to load some guys and gals into your colonizer. If you select the colonizer, hit the colonize button then the planet that you want to colonize (this would be the automatic way). If the colonizer has to be sent for exploration first (that means your target planet is unknown), hit the load (arrow up) button, and take some population before you move it away from your source planet.

If the planets have 0 pop, then you did forget to load up some people. You can make a transport (or use another colony ship) and load up some peeps from your homeworld and drop them off at these new colonies - just use the load/unload cargo buttons while over the planets in question!

Whilst we are talking about what Gryphin so rightly described as the first primary cock-up we all make, keep in mind that your military freighters/population transports should never be idle - use them to move excess population from your core worlds to your new colonies - there is no point having your homeworld generating populationm is can't hold so skim a couple of hundred million off and move them to your new planets

"so skim a couple of hundred million off and move them to your new planets"

Yeah, y'know... the way the New World and Australia were populated....

General Chang: We need breathing room.
Captain James T. Kirk: Earth, Hitler, 1938.

Ouch, that was a bit harsh if possibly true - it would have been more accurate if I said 'ship out 200 million of your convicts and other unwanted's'

That would be more reminiscent of Castro's emptying his jails and sanitoriums in the early 80's... but yes, that allusion is apt.

I think it was Steve Martin who claimed that the US was a product of the offal of every other country on earth. It doesn't appear that they did too badly after all.

Well, it is always a touchy subject for us Brits after we got rid of lots of celts to the US and the contents of our jails to Australia - let me think about this, do I weant to freeze my cojones off here in MAnchester or run down Bondai beach with Kylie Minogue?

That is what in technical jargon is called a complete no brainer http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

A friend of mine travelled to Australia a while back and was asked by custom officers if he had any convictions. His answer?
"Is it still necessary to get in?"

Naturally, the custom officers were not amused.

So, do we have to put cargo section on a ship to transfer people?

Yup. The good news is you can use it to transport troops and other equipment as well http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

comisar (and others),
A colony ship does not *need* a cargo bay. If you include one on a colony ship it will move more people, (see the thread on "what good is population).
If you are going to settle in hostil territory, you can fill the cargo bay witn troops or other units and they will be deposited on the planet and available for defence. You caould also drop said units off somewhere else along the way if you wanted to.

The colony component has a tiny cargo bay built in, and can carry 4M people.

BooBooTheGhost ,
Welcome to the single most common gneratetor of the "Oh Phong!!" exclamation. You will find this phenomenom will strike sometime after 12 midnight. One of the first warning signs is you have just told your sweetheart, "Just one more trun" for the 3rd time and she is standing behind you with an expression that will crack your minitor.
"You have been warned"
