I have a game going in demo which I would like to switch to Gold now that my copy has arrived. Unfortunately, when I try to load the game files I copied across I get a message roughly saying "the data files don't match the data files used when the game was started. Please get the host to send you the right files".

What do I need to do to fix this? Can it be fixed?

Derb I am afraid that you are out of luck. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif The demo has a 100 turn limit on it, and it is hard coded that way, therefore you will not be able, or so I understand, to import your demo game to GOLD. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Is this a sequential or simultaneous game?
Single player?

Try having the host process the turn. You will loose one turn but thats the way to go to update from v1.49 to 1.60. I hope it will work for the demo to 1.60, too.

Ok, I have tested this and it does not appear that it is possible. At least it's not as easily done as running the next turn in the the new Version.

Most of the faicilites were change, inlcuding the spaceports. This pretty much destroys your empire as you get no resource income from your planets.

I suspect that there are some facilities numbers different in the demo, so when it's converted everything gets "shifted" to make room for the new fac's.

I suppose it might be possible to write a Gold Mod that would take out these extra fac's so that games could be converted to the full Version. Although I don't know what other problems might crop up later.
