Hi there, I had a few quick questions

1.What's the deal with weapons mounts? do you have to research them, or are they discovered with ships and weapons? The games a little unclear about how you choose the weapons mounts size.

2.Are there any Star Trek/Star Wars races/shipsets besides those found from atrocities, and the universal shipyard?

More questions as I think of them, thanks!

oh and do the shipsets at the kuat spaceyards work with gold? I ask because the site has not been updated in a while and I don't want to download something that will not work!

Weapon Mounts require a certain ship hull size to be usable. If you pick a ship/base with 400 KT, you can use a large mount weapon. Notice that weapon mount size for Ships have different KT break points than weapon platforms. Large mounts are more cost effective because they double damage for 1.5 times the cost.

No you dont, it is an automatic development. Practically, you do have to research the Ship Construction techs to give you hulls big enough to fit the mounts ie Light Cruiser hull to get the 400K large mount

quote:
do the shipsets at the kuat spaceyards work with gold?

Some of the AI files have more entries in Gold; I've posted step-by-step instructions (http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=23&t=004966) for converting older races' files.

MHSJROTCCADET ,
There is no such thing as a "Stupid Quesiton". If the school or people you deal with say there is, find different people.
