OK,

IM thinking of taking the monoliths out of stellar manipulation and entering them into there own tech tree space. Something along the lines of Monolithic Research, or some such.

Anyway, I was looking at this, and it appears that if I do create this tech slot, im gonna have to add the tech info to the ai_research.txt file for every race. In addition, I will have to add the facility info to the ai_facility.txt file as well.

Am I looking at this right, or am I just facing burn out because of lack of sleep. What do you other modders out there think?

I don't recall AIs using monoliths, but if you start with one that does, all you should have to do is add the new tech area to their research.txt

If the only change to monoliths is that tech requirement, the ai_facility.txt should not be affected.

AI should build monoliths if Stellar Man. 3 is researched before researching any additional levels of minerals, organic, or radioatives. I thought there were a few of the TDM races that were set to build monoliths instead of organics and radioactives.

You are correct, the Dra'kol and the Piundon (as well as a few other races that I can't recall off-hand) are set-up to do this by not researching radioactive/organic techs. This way the AI will automatically build monoliths on organic/rad planets and thus provide a boost to minerals as well.

OK,

If I understand correctly then, if I want the races to do the Monoliths, instead of the organic/rads and so on, I need to take the organic/rad research out of there AI_Research.txt file and put in the monolith research tech. Am I understanding you all correctly?

Grayhorse, that is correct. Take a look at my races' research.txt files in the TDM-ModPack if you want to see an example.
