Hello, I have a question to all of the modders hanging out here.

I am working on some ship components for a mod and need to know how the to hit bonus works. If I have several components with the to hit ability, do the bonuses stack? If so, what is the maximum bonus that you can get? If not, does it just take the largest bonus?

Thanks guys in advance.

The bonuses do stack, and can go up to 100%. However, having two of the same component on a ship should not give it a double bonus.

Cool, so I could have weapon bonuses, sensor bonuses and finally a fire control center bonus all stack together!

Is 100% bonus to hit an automatic hit? Or is 100% just a doubling of your chance to hit a target?

Thanks for the quick reply.

None of the above. It is just to hit bonus.
If your targets have 100% to miss bonus - ECM bonus, stealth armour bonus, scattering armour bonus and fire incinerator bonus stacked up, you will be back to the zero ground.

Ok, but if my opponent has 0% miss bonus and I have a 100% hit bonus is it a guaranteed hit or is it a 100% bonus (ie I normally have a 30% chance to hit, a 100% bonus would give me another 30% for a 60% to hit).

The bonuses are additive.

So, 30% and 100% = 30% + 100% = 130% (bounded to 99%)

Also, all to-hit chances are bounded by 1% and 99%.

No matter how easy it is to hit something, there is always a 1% chance that you'll miss.
My brother's very first shot in combat (after 150 turns of buildup) was his Crystalline tech battleship missing a planet! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

The only way to get 100% to hit is with a religious talisman, and that ignores all bonues, guaranteeing 100% in every case.
