In contrast to standard SE IV a colony which population drops to zero (in my case it was due to a random plague level I) is destroyed in SE IV Gold Version 1.67.
I know that zero population colonies were a problem for the AI because the population minister never sent a population transport to these colonies, but IMO this is not a good fix.
Or what were the reasons for this change?

It is only destroyed if it was hit by a plague. Don't know how long it is this way but many Versions, at least 8 month.

Thanks Mephisto for this information. I never saw it before until now. Do you know why it was changed and why this difference was made between plagues and other reasons for the eradication of the population?

Do be honest I don't have the slightest idea since when this "feature/bug" was introduced. But it at least prevents some easy vitory over the AI by bombing all the planets with plague bombs and watching the AI die.
