Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever managed to go back to peace after a war, with an AI? I have had AI's surrender when the are down to their Last star system, but never agree to go to non-intercourse or some other treaty that preserved their independence. I guess they believe i Death Before Dishonor http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Also has anyone EVER got an AI to agree to a Protectorate or Subjugation treaty?

In AI_politics.txt, you will find a setting which prevents them from making peace for x turns. You may have to not fight for that long before they will even think about making peace.

It is possible to get back to peace, you just need to be really nice and wait forever. The one thing wiht the AI is they don't understnad that war is bad for both parties. MOST humans get that part and don't fight you unless you're really being a dick about it.

I must not be waiting long enough to get a peace treaty. Whenever I try the AI tells me I am a slime and he would rather blow up his own planets, than make peace with me. This is while he is feeling brotherly mind you. Some brother http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Try to bribe him/her. Almost all AI_anger files contain a positive modifier for excepting gifts. Throw him/her few thousand pebbels to his homeworld and contact few turns later. I would not be pleased, but I am a lousy SE IV player.

There is a fixed time that the AI will wait after declaring war before accepting any treaty at all. It's a year or more in all the files, I think. Two years in some of them. Much too high. Only after that will the anger level affect it's decision.

Do the anger levels mean all that much? In my current game the 3 races I am fighting are all brotherly, but the one I have a military alliace with is murderous. Seems like it shoud be the other way around.
