Do weapon platforms have to be on my colonized planets to work or can I drop one on a planet in an uninhabited system, and it still works?

This has got me thinking, maybe they should be able to be dropped on uncolonized planets...

I have use Satellites for this purpose. Drop a couple on a planet and those pesky unescorted colony ships are not a problem! (This planet is reserved signs?!)

Heh. I like that, and never thought of it. Include a satellite bay and about 10 satellites or so with your scouting ships, and you can reserve, and remember which planets you plan on colonizing. Good idea!

Toss a sensor on there and you can scan the enemy ships as well http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

It's not easy in PBW / simultaneous games. You might have to limit the transport to 1 SAT Launcher and settle for launching 4 SATs at a time.
