Is there a way in Gold to save ship designs (I'm thinking early generic start-up designs, like your first ES, FG, and colony ships) so that any "new" empire can access them in a different game? It's a pain to have to create these every time I start up.

During the game, click "save empire" and then use "save ship designs" option any time you want. Now, when you start new game, load the saved empire and here you go !.

Note of caution: If you save empire during game setup (in races window) all ship designs will be lost, even if you choose "save designs" option. This is a bug I think, but minor one.

I was aware of that option, I was hoping that I could use the same ship designs with a different empire, but it appears not.
