hi,
i'm considering playing psy in our next game, could someone answer these questions?
1. how does the subverter work in conjunction with the religious talisman, does it give an always convert or does it do nothing?
2. does the computer virus go through shields or do they have to be down first?

The talisman makes sure that the weapon always HITS.
If the A.S. hits, then the damage at range X is the percent chance that you will capture the ship.
IE:
100 damage = 100% (may be limited to 99%) chance of conVersion when you hit.
50 damage = 50% chance
Anything over 100 is the same as 100, so don't bother with a massive-mount http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
I am pretty sure that the computer virus skips shields.
Be sure to place the subverter AFTER the virus, so you can take the ship in one combat turn.

are talisman's useful for PDC only/mostly ships?

AFAIK, talisman does not affect PD fire. It says "direct fire weapons," and PD are technically, well, Point-Defense weapons. The game seems to treat them separately.

Long time no see guys. I haven't played SEIV for a while. Does the latest Version still stack weapons? ie. if you have 2 viruses and 2 subverters on a ship the computer would always fire off all viruses first in strategic combat, making multiple viruses on a ship a mere waste of space. Is it fixed?

CW<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Multiplex targeting is still difficult to do. I generally do not depend on it. It does seem to work best when there is a change of weapon types, ie: only X, depleters, DF, missiles.
I did experiment with SAT stacks (may apply to WP stacks too). SATs are individually targeting but a SAT stack retargets only when the next SAT has a different weapon. By giving designs many design names and controlling deployment order a Layer Cake firing order can be achived that will not waste the Virus and Subverters.
SAT Layer Cake: Virus satV1, Subverters satS1, Virus satV2, Subverters satS2, etc... (brain SAT gives bonus to all sats)
I don't know if this can be applied to ships. I generally build smaller ships and limit the number of Only X weapons each one carries.
