Universal shipyards, if i'm not mistaken. (edit: just checked it, it's at Universal Shipyards, and it should be gold compatible)it didn't have an Urquan speech file if I remember correctly, but one copied from another race. an Urquan speech file would be great though:

'You will now die human! make whatever rituals are nessecairy for your species.'

What, pray tell, is an "Ur-Quan"?

Physically, the Ur-Quan resemble the predatory caterpillar native to Earth's Hawaiian Islands, only grown to over ten meters in length. The Ur-Quan equivalent of a face is rich in sensory organs, and its expressions are varied and horrific. Aboard ship, these creatures cling to webbed ceilings with their back legs, dangling down over their controls and their slave-crew like hungry spiders.<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Anyhow if you've never played star control 2, then go find a copy and play it now, it's IMHO the best game ever, (yes seIV comes second on my Favorites list...) Ten years old but with very decent graphics sound etc.

Star Control 2 had gameplay/story/action/cool music/funny comments and more in a single game, it is one of my Favorites too. Too bad it has never worked properly on anything higher than my 386 (which disappeared mysteriously in a rip to quasi-space some years ago http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif )

I first played SC2 on my 286 which could barely handle it, but it works fine on my current machine. (pentium II , in DOS modus)

For a nice website on SC2 look at:

There's also a fan-based project that tries to create a worthy successor of SC2 (SC3 was quite a dissapointment after playing the original). It's called starcontrol Timewarp and looks quite promissing, they already have a working and playable combat engine :
