Hi all,
Am playing the demo while wainting for my copy of SEIVG to arrive (hopefully on Monday).
What determines the maximum number of facilities allowed?
Does increasing the population of a colony allow more facilities to be built?
Please forgive the questions, but I am a old, hard-core Stars! player where Pop management was critical to building a fast/successful empire and I am trying to convert to SEIVG.

it depends on planet size, and the atmosphere, smallest size can have 1 facility, largest size can have 5, but if the atmosphere is the same as your race breathes, then the max number of facilities is multiplied with five, so for a tiny planet that would be 5, and for a huge planet that would be 25.
One of the racial traits also increases the max facilities...don't remember which one though...

Advanced Storage Techniques ups the number of facilities.

Pop management is important (especially in some of the mods) but will not increase facility space.
Basiclly, more population = more efficient production. Happyness works the same way. A happy tiny world filled to the brim can often outproduce a miserable half-full Huge world.

The advanced storage trait gives a 20% boost to space available. (rounded down) thus on a 'Domed' colony of huge size the normal 5 facilities would become 6. but a large size of 4 would remain 4.
The main advantage IMO is on game startup. your homeworld would have more facilities already built and 20% greater population limit. This is a
real advantage.

Unfortunately, advanced storage does not increase cargo capacity of your ships! Nor the storage space of your storage facilities other than cargo, IIRC. Why not? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Claymore, you should try Proportions mod.
(The Last Version can be found in download forum).
There, population is the single most important asset of your empire !

A further question.
When you say that increased population leads to increased construction, does it also lead to increased mining, farming and refining?

Yes, population bonuses affect all forms of production. Look in the SETTINGS.TXT file for the levels at which the bonuses kick in and how much they are.
Number Of Population Modifiers := <number>
Pop Modifier 1 Population Amount := 99
Pop Modifier 1 Production Modifier Percent := 100
...
etc.

Claymore2002<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yes, in the same proportions in the standard games...
But in fact SEIV settings file lists all pop treshold and has 2 modifiers for each, one for construction and another for production.
This is sometimes heavily modded in some mods (Proportions is a good example..)
