Hi all,
Just got SEIVG and I am trying to come up to speed on everything at once.
What are the steps to laying mines with a minelayer ship?
Do you have to build mines and then load them onto the minelayer, or it assumed that a minelayer ship always has mines and that the 'cost' for resupplying the mines is included in the maintenance of the ship?
Thanks,

1. design/build minelayer ship
2. design/build mines
3. select ship and choose "load" and click planet that has the mines, and choose it to load the mines.
4. move the ship to where you want to deploy mines.
5. deploy mines.
alternatively:
4b. choose deploy units remotely to make it move automatically...

There is also the Remote feature. It is the 8th one over from the Yellow arrow on the upper left of the top row. It looks like a box with arrow going out of it.
You click on your fully loaded mine layer, and then click the remote deploy button. Then click where you want the mines layed, and click mines. The ship will move to that point, and lay mines. This feature is most useful when you want to lay a lot of mines in one spot such as on a warp point. By using the Remote Deploy, you can "stack" the mines within the same mine group. Otherwise, each time you deploy the mines directly from the ship, they will create a new group. So you would end up with say 5 Groups of mines, whereas if you used Remote Deploy, those 5 Groups would be one. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Have fun.

The remote deploy hot key is "i".
