Need help!!!
Ican't even start the game!!

I keep getting "exception e sock error in module se4.exe at 000618f2
intialzatin of windows sockets failed"

Ahhhhhhhh
I want to play tonight!!!

Please help!!!

Sounds like you don't have dialup networking installed. Just run Windows setup and install dialup networking and it'll probably work. You shouldn't need TCP or anything fancy like that unless you were gonna play across a lan.

If i did what you said right... it didn't work.

Any other ideas (or more help with first idea)

Did you reboot afterwards? You have to reboot for something like that to take effect.

Yep rebooted, dial up networking was there anyway. I just tried to re-install and upgrade with the patch , same problem!! Can't get past it

what am i doing wrong???

My advise, uninstall the game. Delete the old folders, reinstall the game, download a new Version of the latest patch. Patch it. Should work. I had this happen before and that fixed it.

Here is a dumb question....

Would it matter if windows is on one drive and se4 is on another????

Other recommendations is to

1. defrag
2. make sure you do it regulary

It's definetly a winsock issue.

Make sure you have the latest winsock, you can get that from Microsoft. There was an updated Version of the winsock that came in Windows 95b.

This is really wierd. By accident I loaded the game from the se4 folder, not the shortcut!!
It works!!!

Guess the shortcut is bad.

Now this "newbee" can play!!

No, Se4 does not have to be on the same drive with Windows.
