Pick any three of the following names that were submitted. The top three then will face a run-off for the new name of the New Cantina, and the Old one will be retired....
Reason for retiring, is that the motion was put foreward by gt due to the large amount of Posts, and other reasons, see the Posts in the cantina, for more on this, So new locations was requested.

I object! Your choices are not trendy enough.
What about "Planet Malfador"?
Or "Space Empires 4ward"?

The top three should definitely have to run against the current name.
Then we'll really see what people think.
Also, the typos in those names should be fixed before you hire the Sign Maker.
"The Wondering Nomad & Pirate Saloon"
Is the nomad Wandering or Wondering?
"The Wicked & Wild Cu Cuppa"
Cue Cappa are much more common 'round here.

"23 total votes adding up to 253%"
Not at all. Remember that you're allowed to vote THREE times. So we're actually short votes.

Since there appears to be requests to keep the current name, the top 3 vote getters will face off against the current name in the final poll.
Keep those votes coming in......

I vote for 'Ye Olde Phong's Head and Galactic Bar and Grill"
Cantina's in England tend to be rather horribly cheap nasty Mexican restuarants which are guaranteed to infect/infest you with the parasite of your choice - despite appearances, the YOGBAGAPHC was never quite that bad

who on earth came up with THE ROAD KILL CANTINA?
That is disgusting
How about "The Old Broken Piston" (from the joke about the man outside the pub lieing under his car who is asked by a drunkard what the problem is, "piston broke" says the fellah, "same as me then" says the drunkard)

and so what if the nomad is wondering, i bet he has a lot to wonder about.
GT, to paraphrase our (not your) fearless leader, "you have Mexicans in England?" (refering to GWB's not-so-famous blunder "you have Blacks in Brazil?"). seedy parasites are the best kind of parasites, i say you keep calling it a cantina.
and how about the Cue Cappa Pool Hall? you could call the line to get to the little alien's room the 'Cappa Queue.
(and now i shall duck and run for the door)

Well, I wondered if anyone even saw my post. Apparently no one gets the references, even though we're full of Trek fans here. 10 Forward on the Enterprise-D is reasonably famous, isn't it?

I haven't been here long but but with 1270 Messages why change a classic

Uh... TNG does have a cheese factor but what Trek series doesn't? What do you consider 'real' Trek? TOS?
Puke
June 25th, 2002, 05:32 AM
oh yeah, TOS was some hardcore sci-fi. mother of it all, no laughing matter. unless you are unfortunate enough to step on an exploding rock or were planning on hijacking a starship for a trip to the garden of eden. let us not forget 'brain, brain, what is brain?'
which reminds me of an old sluggy comic. for those (99.9%) of you who probably dont read it, the characers have accidentially transformed their friend Zoe into a camel, and are trying to fix the situation:

OK, I voted! But it seems that this poll is for the Last time the Cantina was restarted, not this time... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif
By the way, is the new Cantina going to have a 2000-post time limit on it as well? Why did the founders set a time limit, anyway?
Puke
December 31st, 2002, 08:30 AM
the founders didnt set a limit. and it isnt necessarily at 2000. i just thought we would all start shooting at 2000, and see when we drag it down. someone else came up with the plan that we were stopping there.
as for the founders, its far less formal than you think. read the first few Posts of the first cantina, and of this one.
