I beleive that the savegame files are encrypted to prevent hacking but don't quote me on that. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I believe only Aaron of MM knows the format of the save game files. This is what is preventing someone in the community from making a scenario editor at this time. Perhaps when the Last patch for SE4 is released, he'll let the format be know for a few of the communities top programmers in which to make a scenario editor.

i just wanted it to read how far someone research is, maybe i could somehow add it to my techviewer program, so that it shows how much is researched.

I think that may be gleamed from the txt files generated by some games (in your turns im sure you've encountered these?) These are just a jumble of numbers and i was able to relate the first few rows (though i forgot what they relate to). I think it might just be a way of displaying score info or such.

btw I WANT A SCENARIO EDITOR. I'm tired of playing games for 50 turns just to get to a starting point and having mounds of stress build up because of it. no doubt aaron and MM have enough to do but couldnt' they let some of us (not me) who are competent deal with it?

MM has had problems with having fans do stuff like that in the past. Don't expect Aaron to try it again.
