So, I did something this weekend I haven't done in close to a year and a half if I recall correctly. I actually played a game of SEIV single player! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

It is amazing how addictive it is. I had intended to only play a few turns, but ended up burning about 5 hours between Saturday and Sunday. Where did the time go? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

No, the AI isn't very challanging compared to human players, but it was still fun. They weren't complete pushovers. In fact, while I am in first place after about 150 turns, player 2 isn't that far behind me. He's got about 90% of my score, so I may have a fight on my hands when I go up against him. It probably would have been worse for me had I altered the quadrant file a bit. I got a lucky starting position sitting between a black hole and another dead system.

Only 5 hours in 2 days? Off weekend for you?

I once played a single player game that was massively difficult for me. I got unlucky (or was it lucky?) and started in a system that only had 3 wps. One went to a deadend system with only 2 planets I could colonize and the other 2 both went to blackholes! Damaging wps and all. After YEARS of preperation I finally got through both black holes with an undamaged ship only to find 2 more black holes! By the time I even made it out of there and encountered anyone else, I was using destroyers and they all had battleships and up! Now that was a hard game.

If only we could get a PBW game to move as fast as a single player game. Ah the dream of foolish. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

That's only going to happen when everyone on the face of the earth turns into computer geeks and do nothing but wait for the next turn... Right away unzip it, play it, send it in, 10 minutes later you have another turn. Which I don't see happening anytime soon. <Insert sarcasim>Maybe at least another 10 or so years. <End sarcasim>

Turn Blitz on PBW. Of coarse, it's more the AI's empire than your own....

Actually you could get pretty close using Tcp/ip, or the PBW Rel Time Client. Not quite as fast of course, cause you still have different people taking different amounts of time to do their turns.

I had a PBW game once get through almost 20 turns in one day, but there were only three of us playing.

Nothing to brag about but I've been through 3 or 4 turns in one day on PBW. But that's not much compared to Geo's 20.

Well, to be fair that only happened once, and it was a pretty peculier game at that.

Baron Munchausen,
Including mine. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
Though in hindsight it was for the better.
