Anyone participating in a game where homeworlds will start as 'Bad', please note that Gas Giant races will have medium homeworlds instead of small like the Rock and Ice players. I have not researched this by moding the world distributions to see if this can be overcome. Just wanted to report it so people would be aware of the issue.

I consider this a bug, but some might just say this is how the game was designed. In either case, I wanted to publish this information so people would be aware of the issue. This was a game where home worlds were supposed to equal.

This was already known. The reason for it is that Medium is the smallest gassy planet size. The advantage is more than offset by the fact that gassers don't have as many planets to colonize, so their developement will be slowed later on.

Gee, Homeworld Quality sets the SIZE of them as well as the min/org/rad value too??? Guess I always play on Good so I never notice... wish you could set the size specifically as well, since restarting a game with Medium homeworlds with the same settings has produced a game with Large homeworlds - BIG difference in initial research speed, especially in a 10 homeworld game which this was!

Thanks for posting this, LGM. I was caught by suprise too.

Maybe as a community, we should write and publish a "strategy guide" for SEIV.. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
