Is there anyways to rename a system?

Yes, in a way. You can change the names in the System.TXT to whatever you wish. The game will use that list when naming the systems.
You can name Planets, Ships, Fleets, and designs whatever you want, but not systems.

You can use the map editor, but that won't affect a game in progress.

I wondered about renaming systems too.
I feel we should have the option to change the name of a system. Like the player who "occuppies" the system with a ship or colony has the right to change the name. If contested, (such as each player has a ship in the system or one with a colony and another with a ship)then neither has the right to change it. Claiming a system has no effect, someone must be there alone.

Hmmmmmmmm...
Probably better if the player had to have a colony and was alone in the system with no enemy colonies/ships there...otherwise we may have mass changes of names....

When you rename a planet. Will the other empires see it as the name you made it or the default? By renaming importen Worlds am I labeling what world should be attacted?

Even if you're cute and rename your planet something boring, the fact that you took the time is a dead giveaway. Unless you rename every planet, but who would take the time.
Note when you get a military alliance, resupply bases are known to your ally. When they declare war, all the little "R"'s disappear, but really, are you gonna scrap them and build them elsewhere http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif

yes... stuff that should be changed in the game...
Each race's planets name should be known only by that race... Same with ship names...
Hopefully this will be addressed some time....
Because it is a huge flaw in the game.

Who, ME? What's wrong with naming...every...planet? <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I do it too, mainly as a reminder to myself that filled the planet's build queue.
