Question - can you make up fleets with other fleets or can only individual ships be joined into a fleet.
Example, I have the 1st, 2nd and 5th Destroyer Squadrons in orbit round my homeworld, I want add the 3rd and 6th cruiser divisions to make up 1st Fleet or Task Force Tigga or whatever. What I do not want to do is break up the various divisions and squadrons and lose any fleet bonuses they may have.
Is this possible? is it moddable? is it worth mentioning to Aaron?

No. No. In my opinion, it is.

Sorry Gryph, I agree with El Vomito, I think this is a must for this game, you can compile fleets from bolt on 'divisions' which can be trained up etc.
Far more flexibility I feel
How do I tell Aaron?

Ok,
No, No, It would be interesting but I would rather have other features.

i believe that se4@malfador.com is the email address. he gets lots of mail, so consise and to the point is usually best. i get the impression that features are rarely added without significant supporting evidence of their merit.

Desired Features:
If I could have nothing else I would like Wheel Mouse Support
Second greatest desire is for my mouse pointer to "jump to" the active button. These are both do to my "Dodgy Eyes" as you once decribed them.
It is very distracting to have to take my eyes from the data part to move the mouse to the Interface part.
Less important would be more elaborate Diplomacy with the AI.
Less important that that I would like to see the "silly AI errors" go away.

It's a nice idea, but with my limited programming know-how I'd guess that it would mean a *lot* of work for Malfador. Probably. Similar levels of improvement could be acheived in other areas with much less coding if Aaron were to work on them instead.
However, it would definitely be worth including if it affected combat too- i.e. enabled you to send fleets into combat giving different Groups of ships different objectives. (Fleet A takes out the defence stations and warships, Fleet B lands troops, Fleet C captures the transports...)
But send in the email. Maybe loads of other ppl have already sent in similar requests, and he's just waiting for one more...

How is the computer supposed to know ahead of time which of the dozen or more possibilities on any given screen is the one you wanted?

I'd be happy if fleets got configuration screens, where you could set up *multiple Groups* of ships, each with their own tactical orders, and then assign ships to each group as you wish.
So your beam-heavy close-assault ships close in to point blank and bLast away, while your missile and carrier ships dance around the perimeter chucking self-mobile damage at the enemy and your transports try and race straight at the enemy colony to land troops.
All in ONE fleet.

I would like the mouse pointer jump to the ok button.
I realize this is very centric to me and do not expect it to be implimented even as an option.

In many of the screens once you have made a change such as adding something to the build que you are done. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">And the computers knows exactly when you've added every item you want to add?
I honestly cannot see how what you want could be implemented without inventing computer telepathy first.
BTW, why aren't you using the keyboard shortcuts? Hitting "Enter" closes most of the windows, for example.
