Shouldn't races be able to give other races "Special Technology" with the exeption of psi tech and religious tech?
Also, shouldn't catured ships still appear to be controoled by there native race?

well, the 2nd would need harcode, the first, well that woudl be interesting. coudl unbalance real fast though, if two or three players got together and traded technologies we'd be up against some compettiong, basically raising the racial point ceiling artificially.

You can mod the ability to give other races racial tech, even though they can't research it. It requires tweaking what is and isn't specifically racial. Kinda complicated, but I or others can explain further if you are interested.
The other is hardcoded...can't change flags on ships...if that is what you mean.

Actually, you could mod the images, so that all flags were the same, but in Gold you can click on the flags to get the race description.
However, most players would only do that on every ship if they were really paranoid and suspicious.

You can give another race a ship or planet with racial tech on it; they won't be able to repair or analyze it, but it will work normally. Same goes for captured racial tech.
Captured ships continue to use the original owners' shipset, unless you retrofit them to one of your own designs.
