View Full Version : POLL MM, help us...information wanted on battle strategies!

The "Strategies" menu of the Empire Status tab (F11) requires us to make many choices. Many of us do not have a clear understanding of the effect the choices we select will have on the battle to be fought.

Not having a clear understanding limits the range of responses we can make to a situation.

The question is:

Are you interested in Malfador Machinations providing us information on the options available so we can make more informed choices?

To those who just recently entered the site and want to know what this is all about, take a look at the thread

Why not post a *link* (http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=006669) to the thread? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I didn't because being a newbie I don't know how to do it! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif

Use this without the spaces:

[ URL=http://www.url.com]text[/ URL]

I used this (without the extra spaces):

[ b][ URL=http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=006669]*link*[/ URL][/ b]

These may be really dumb questions, but....

What does:
1) "[b]" stand for?
2) "f=23" mean or stand for?
3) "t=006669 mean or stand for?

look up top...

the b and /b are the begin and end tags

the url and /url is begin url and end url

the url is made up of the link and the f=forum and t=topic

So, this site I'm now on is "23"? Y/N
And where do I get the topic number?

The "Instant UBB" buttons on the posting form will automatically fill in the codes for different things.

The easiest way to get the URL for a link is to open a second window, go to the thread you want to link to, and copy its URL from the address bar.

Do not use the previous/next buttons to find the thread when you are getting the addy. If you do, you don't get the forum thread #, you get "<previous thread #> =older" (paraphrased). If you try to post That URL, as soon as the "previous thread" get's bumped, your link will point to a different thread!!! I lost a couple of really good threads bookmarked this way.... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

EDIT: The best way I've found to get the thread # you want is to bump the thread. Then the addy will change to show the current thread addy instead of the "#=older" addy
