Bman, have you contacted the Shrapnel help desk yet? The Last time someone brought this up Richard said they were all pretty much taken care of unless someone slipped through the cracks. They won't know this unless you tell them though.

Go to http://www.shrapnelgames.com/customersupport.htm
If they don't hep you try private messaging Richard directly. But try the help desk first.

I originally thought about it as an incentive to get SEIV Gold, but after playing the heck out of it for so long, I just felt they deserved the extra few bucks and never sent mine in.

I can't remember if I got mine, or gave it to Aaron Hall.

I think I'm the one Geo is talking about. I still haven't got mine despite assurances from the Shapnel help desk about a month ago.

This is not now, nor has it ever been, about the money. It is a test. Most rebates take forever. I wanted to see if Shrapnel was any different. Apparently they are not. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif I believe I could, working alone, process about 100 rebates a day. That's about 1 every 5 minutes. If they have 10000 requests, that would take me about 100 working days. Sorry, but the standard excuse, "we were overwhelmed by the response" just doesn't wash.

I seem to have a knack for getting myself into jams today. Not trying to offend ANYONE! Just pointing out a common, yet loathsome business practice that sadly, even Shrapnel seems to Subscribe to. If I am mistaken and my rebate has once again slipped through the cracks, I profoundly apologize.

I don't think it has anything to do with that, but I'll check into it if I get a chance. It has more to do with all of us at Shrapnel being constantly overworked.

I keep both Gold and , ummm, Plutonium ?
Being busy playing SE IV saved me more than the rebate - the only other game I bought was a AOW2.

And thanks a bunch for your help!

PS So you are handling this "in house"? Not farming it out to a specialty rebate house?

As a beta tester, I felt I shouldn't use the rebate. But i have added it to a growing collection of SE related papers and stuff I hope to add to my website soon.

The form gave a choice of check, gift certificate, or charge card credit.

(I never sent it in; I still have the form.)

I never sent mine in either. A week before the deadline, I sat down to fill out the form, realizing that I had no clue what the order number was because I group ordered it through a friend who could not find the order number when I asked him about it.

'Deadline'?
You mean that the rebate period is over?

Correct..it was only for pre-orders IIRC.

Hmm. I'll send them a message. Ordinarily I would not care so much especially since I enjoy the game, but since I had to destroy my SE4 CD which I paid for, I find it more offputting than normal that I did not get the rebate.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Just curious. Why did you have to destroy your SE4 CD? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif

My rebate finally arrived.

I wish I did not have to chop up my SE4 CD. Now I can not play ver1.49 on PBW.
I had a backup CD. I don't care how old Warchild is, he is going over my knee for a little discipline when he comes to visit.

Anyone got a copy of the letter from Malfador when ordering Space Empires II that stated they would provide all future Versions of the game free of charge?

I do but I'm afraid of putting the company out of business. I've been playing SE for a LONG time and have bought several copies over the years for down and out friends who wanted to play.

Keep up the good work Malfador. Keep my rebate too. I've put more time into Space Empires than any other game I bought in the past 25 years. At this rate I'm paying pennies per hour for great entertainment.
