Does the repair aptitude score impact the rate at which Organic Armor regnerates?

Thanks.

no

Not in combat, anyways. If, at the end of combat, you still have damaged armor, and you need to take it to a repair facility, then your repair skill will come into effect.

Very odd.

So I suspect this means that buying down my Repair apptitude is not a good idea.

Thanks

Just use twice as many repair bays (which are not very expensive at all) and you'll be fine. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Yeah, a few extra repair ships aren't hard to build or maintain.

Seemed to me like organic armor was completely repairing once out of combat, which would make sense. I don't remember ever seeing partly-destroyed organic armor at the strategic level.

PvK, OA does not repair after combat is over. Test it out. I have seen plenty of ships end up with some damaged OA, either by combat ending before they could repair, or when they run out of regen points.

Oh, that's weird. Never seen that, and I've played a few organic races lately in several games. Definitely seems nonsensical.

Organic Armor does get a chance to use its stored up regen points after the Last shot in combat is fired. If your ship is hit on the Last round, you still get to try and heal the armor.
That might be what your're seeing.

My partner in the game has a repair dread with 5 repair V's on it, can repair 25 pieces a turn, makes combats pretty trivial because with two of those he repairs every ship instantly. He also uses them when he retrofits. He can have an entire fleet retrofitted in 2 turns with 2 of his super repair dreads.

one prob with reducing your repair capability is that the lower level of repair comps are much much much weaker. and any component that repairs one per turn (like in P&N) is useless. If you don't mind spending a few extra $$ and some research dollars it is still a great option just pointing that out.

if you have a component that repairs 1 and have repair aptitude 50%, you'll need two ships with that component in the sector to get repair. the repair rate is calculated for the whole sector not for induvidual components or ships.

wow, that's nice, now i feel a lot better about losing 25%+ of my repair apptitude.

BTW, it rounds down. If you have 99% repair ability, one comp with a repair rate of 1 will do nothing. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
