View Full Version : Repair Priorities

I want "repair bays" to be my highest repair priority, so that they can be used the next turn. According to Components.txt, these are "Construction" Category, so I put construction first on my repair priorities. However, my shipyard still seems to insist on fixing the ships with busted up engines first. What am I doing wrong?

Are the construction components on the right side of the window? If anything is on the left, I think it gets repaired Last. And the top item is repaired first, and it moves down the list.

So it does use the component Groups from Components.txt? So if I want to change the Groups then I ought to change RepairPriorities.txt? (If that's so, where are Religious components on the list?)

I don't know. Maybe it doesn't use those component Groups. That could explain why my repair bays are not getting priority.

No, I've rearranged them and seen Repair Bays be repaired first. Is Construction at the very top of the list?

Yup,
Construction
Vehicle Control
Engines
...
Weapons are way down the list, and it fixed broken weapons before my repair bays! Oh, well...it's finally fixed everything.

Well... I don't know what to tell you. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I have moved Construction to the top of the list (well, 2nd, after Stellar Manipulation), and it repairs the repair bays before anything else.

I'm finding its repairing ships one at a time (PBW 1.49). Using the repair priorities on each ship, yes, but it completes a ship before moving on to the next. I have a repair ship that has not yet been touched but older ships are ready to roll. Like Purna, construction is at the top of the list.
Actually it would be a nice feature if you could choose to repair ship by ship, (by design date or reverse design date), or by component type.

Ah, yes...that seems to be the ticket. I don't know how it decides whether to repair ship A or ship B first, but it doesn't seem to look at repair priorities. It only applies the priorities to the components on a particular ship, once that ship is chosen. (This is 1.78, BTW.)

"If that's so, where are Religious components on the list?"
They get added to the list when you research a Religious component. Similarly, if you remove a component from the list and have not yet researched it (i.e., Armor), it disappears until you research it.
