View Full Version : OT: David Weber Series Timeline Question

Very OT here. I have just finished the 'Insurrection' book by Weber and White, and now I am moving onto the 'Crusade' book. How are these books connected? At first glance they seem to be in totally different timelines. Does 'Crusade' take place before or after 'Insurrection'? (and the next in the series 'In Deaths Ground', where does that fit in?
I just loved the 'Honor' series, and picked this up while my ordered copy of 'Flag in Exile' is being shipped. (just needed the one book to catch up). Kinda reminds me of the 'Seafort' stuff by David Feintuch but I definitly like it.
The 'Insurrection' I liked and 'Crusade' is good so far. (aside from the fact that I would have loved to see the characters from Insurrection carry over.)
Anyone know the answer (I just hate reading a series and finding out the next one in it is really a 'prequel')

Crusade happens well before Insurrection....."On Death's Ground" is between them. Crusade and On Death's Ground share several characters...
Another book is coming out that is after Death's Ground and before Insurrection...called Shiva something or other..

1. Crusade
2. On Death's Ground
3. The Shiva Option (new)
4. Insurrection
Shiva Option is out, although I'm not sure about paperback. I've got it only in hardback, but it takes place fairly soon after "On Death's Ground" basically a continuation of the same war.

Just read On Deaths Ground. Amazing how much the universe in the book matches SEIV! A MOD based on this universe shouldn't be hard.

1. Crusade
2. Insurrection
3. In Deaths Ground

You will find a number of the same charatcers thru the series, I won't tell you more so I don't ruin it. I hope he makes a 5th one

Pheonix-D tried to set up a PBW game using his mod based on that *Or the honor harrington series* and a custom made scenario and map and he couldn't get it done.

yeah, check the starfire mod thread, my only gripe is no SBMHAWK/RDs. without them IMHO its not the same, plus the fighters and gunboats are hard to modle accuratly, cause Starfire/HH has effectively 5 ship types while gold has only 4 and normal has 3 they are as follows: HH/starfire base, ship, gunboat, fighter, SBM/RD
GOLD base, ship, fighter, Drone
standard base, ship, fighter.
Because you have no move to order or attack empty planet or empty sector (that you know is full of ppl) you can't really do SBM/RDs at all unless its a pre-built scenario (which im still figuring out).
so yeah, can i be any more disorganized? GO TO www.deskmod.com (http://www.deskmod.com) and get a pimp desktop!

HH doesn't have fighters.. at least I wouldn't consider a 20kt LAC a fighter. And if you do there are no gunboats. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
