In Tatical combat, my ships have have fully functioning PPB, they are well within range, and work for 6 turns before they STOP WORKING.
Thats right, they work only for about 6 turns, then become useless. They won't fire.
No damage, still within range, but WONT FRICKING Fire.
WTF is up with that? (NOTE: I have experienced this with other weapons too.)
Standard game, NO modifications.

I ran into this in the HH mod.. do they fire in strategic? Anything specific about the target? What does the *target* do? Other ships?

Maybe you ran out of ammo (supplies)?

The fleet was fully stocked with over 40kt of supplies.
My fleet of seven ships CAN beat the Cardassian fleet of 40. My ships are faster, have greater range weapons, and shields. The Cardassian fleet entered the WP and got first shot. They disabled one of my Dreadnoughts, leaving me with seven Battleships.
I would swoop in and attack their Baseships with four Battleships, destroying it, and move back out of range. I was averaging 2.5 kills a turn when the weapons stopped working on all of my ships. No reason, they just stopped firing.
From that point, there was no reason to play out the turn. I Alt-Ctrl-Del out of the game, and went to bed after posting here.
My ships are well trained, 20%. They are all well stocked and equiped. This should not have occured. I think its a possible bug.

Can you replicate the problem? Unless you can see that it's a repeatable problem that we can see for ourselves it's a little tough to diagnose it as a bug and fix it or something. Did you try replaying the combat again? It difeinetly sounds wierd, but if this is the only time it ever hapened to you and it never happens to anyone else maybe it was just a glitch.

It was mentioned it might have been a supply problem. I checked to be sure, and the fleet had used up all of its supplys. RED LINED.
This might have been the issue. For some reason the fleet had a full load of supplies, but after combat, (I ran it again) the fleet was out of supplies.
So ya, that might have been the cause. I still anhilited most of their ships. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

That was the first thing I checked. No, supply usage is set to 0.
I am going to check the other components later to see what the supply usage is.
Another question I have is:
Does any one know what determines "Maintenance" cost in the Txt Files? I don't believe it is the cost of Minerals or other, but something else. Then again I could be wrong.

I believe the line in "settings.txt" is:
Empire Starting Percent Maint Cost := 25
and the maintenance for a ship is 25% of the all 3 resources.

maintenance is sperate for each resource, and is a flat percentile. i think its in the settings.txt
