What, in your opinion, is the best mod to use for a single-player game that beefs up the AI into an absolute menace? I've found the default AI to be a bit predictable, and I'm looking for something that can make me start swearing at my computer screen http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif

I would prefer one that causes the least amount of modification to the games parameters/component list/facility list/etc. I just want the AI to give me a real run for my money. Giving the computer opponents advantages during the game setup just isn't as much fun.

What you want is the TDM-Modpack. It doesn't change any settings, it just makes the AI a lot better....I think it's the challenge you are looking for!

Still, even with TDM, you must give Ai at least a medium bonus to compensate for AI deficiency.

P&N does make a lot of changes, but it will probably give you the most challenge http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
