View Full Version : Partnerships & shared ship designs

I just entered in a Partnership treaty with an Ally a few turns ago, so I got to see all his ship designs, and all the enemy designs he's seen. However, now, a few turns later, my ally has several new ship designs flying around, and I can't identify the components on those ships.

With a Partnership, is it not a constant trade of ship design information? Or is it simply a trade of knowledge at the time that the treaty is made, then it's "you're on your own" from there?

But the sharing is not instantaneous. I haven't checked exactly how long it takes to redistribute designs, but might be as long as 10 turns (1 'year' of game time) between sharing of designs.

I think you only get to see his new desings when they are involved in combat.

Heck, I can find out his designs that way WITHOUT the partnership treaty!

Right, but with the partnership you get to see his designs if they are involved in combat with _anyone_ else.

Not combat with you, but combat with anybody...

This is quoted from the Partnership information within the Game.
Enemy Designs are shared between the two empires <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">A Partnership treaty doesn't allow you to see your Partner's Ship designs but any 'Other Race's' Ship designs that he knows.

eg. Your Partner gets into a fight with a Cue Cappa DN, the following turn you should recieve the Cue Cappa DN Design.

The only way to get your Partner's Ship Designs is to be in the location where the fight takes place or from another Partner.

For your ally's ship, for what i know you get to know the ships either after 0.5 years (the default for removing obsolete IIRC) or as soon as the ship is marked obsolete. You never receive their latest ship designs.

Gravey and SJ are right. After your partner has a battle, you get to see all his designs and the enemy designs that were in that battle. If the war is hot and heavy, it won't be long before you know them all... at least the combat ships.

Addendum: If you're like me, after you see all his ships, you wonder why you ever partnered with the incompetent moron. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

It looks like I stand corrected.
Sorry for any miss-information from my end.

where i know from, been plaing one game and had a fleet passing by an ally homeworld. Saw them build a LC and suddenly that destroyer i've been so much curious to see the design appeared in the list. And this happens even if your ally does not fight wars.
