1. When you launch mines how does the computer determine which ones explode or which are swept first?
2. How does it determine how much damage is needed to kill each ship? is it simply by Kt or do armor and sheilds and damage Ratings of components matter?

2- Armor counts, shields don't. Otherwise it works just like weapons fire.

So that means a 400 kt LC could withstand more than 400 dmg of mine warheads. Do internal structure (like C-60 components) and damage resistance (armored engines) add in too?

The damage is done to the entire structure of the ship, so anything on the ship (save shield points) can be damaged. Each component takes as many points of damage to destroy as it would if it were suffering fire from enemy ships.

MInes are one of the first things you should learn to use in a game. JMHO.
