View Full Version : How do blockades work?

Got a question...

Last nite I was playing a game, and attacked the Ork Clans' homeworld. There were two planets in that sector. I eliminated the population on one, but not totally on the other. They had no ships or anything, just population left. After the battle, it said that I was blockading the planet. I have not seen this before, what exactly is happening. Now, I know what a blockade is, but what i am asking, is what is happening in game terms?

Thanks

In game terms, a blockade prevents any resources and/or research/intelligence points from being collected by the empire. If you are also blockading a planet with the only spaceport in the system - than no resources etc. will be added the empires pool.

Note - The Build Queue of the blockaded planet is still available to build Units, Ships & Facilities.

Also, the population of the blockaded planet will grow angry and will soon riot, halting all production.

This happens whenever enemy ships are in the system, but it is faster when a planet is blockaded. I don't know if the value is in the data files, but it seems to work that way for me.

how quickly are we looking at a riot?

and lets say its been blockaded for 40 turns and then i capture it, will the people ever become happy again?

The fastest way to make the planet happier again (assuming Peaceful happiness type, not sure about others) is to dump a whole lot of troops on the planet. Parking a nice-sized fleet in orbit couldn't hurt, either.

120 police troops keep just about any planet jubilant.
