Hey guys.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I am going to be stepping back from Shrapnel. I will still be helping out behind the scenes for awhile, while we transition, but officially tommorow is my Last day.

This is an amicable split, I am just burnt out and need a break.

Feel free to drop me a line at rarnesen@columbus.rr.com after next week.

Oh and I'll still be here, just not as an official spokesman.

Seriously though you've been the front man for as long as I've been here and done a fine job (IMO). Best of luck in the future with all your endeavours.

Richard, it is from the Cantina thread. I have open up some retail there. One of the item's is a loincloth with SEIV logo embossed.

Or it could be from "Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

No no no, you're all wrong. It is from South Park (which, btw, is one of the few shows on television worth watching). http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I go away for a week, and this is the kind of thing that happens? Now I remember why I don't usually take vacation.

Anyway, best of luck Richard. Everyone deserves a break once in a while.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has a few things to say on the subject of towels. A towel, it says, is the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound he cold moons of Jaglon Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kafrofoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for hand-to-hand combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (a mind-bogglingly stupid animal--daft as a brush, but very very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitchhiker) discovers that a hitchhiker has a towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, washcloth, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet-weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitchhiker any of these or a dozen other items that a hitchhiker might accidentally have "lost." What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the Galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through and still know where his towel is, it is clearly as man to be reckoned with. Hence a phrase that has passed into hitchhiking slang, as in "Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There's a frood who really knows where his towel is." (Sass: know, be aware of, meet, have sex with; hoopy: really together guy; frood: really amazingly together guy.) <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">
