Hey, is that Agent Smith guy from The Matrix in this movie? How about Magneto, I thought he died in the first movie but apparently he's OK. And Count Dooku, he's in it too, right?

Is that new Harry Potter movie good? I did not see the first movie either because I thought it was just a kids' movie. But I hear that it's not just for kids, what do you think?

if you like fairy tales (NOT fantasy) thats movie is for you.
I've bough several HP books before, and had been mighty dissapointed as its realy too childish... (after four years of "serious" sci-fi and fantasy)

The movie that I'm REALLY looking forward to is Star Trek: Nemesis. I've been waiting for this one for a long time. This is going to be a good one, it's an EVEN numbered movie!

The new Harry Potter movie is really enjoyable. As a fan of the books, my only criticism was that the story focused almost exclusively on the "Chamber of Secrets" as opposed to mixing in the life as a student..even though it's a student of magic. So you see less of the Harry and the main characters as students learning how to work (and work with) magic, and more seems to show them as already capable. Overall, the tone of this movie is much darker than I remember the book.
As for the books being too child-like, I would say that it's a story about children FOR children. I think that's part of why I found them such a pleasure to read. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I agree, Harry Potter is a hack. I haven't seen any of the movies, or read any of the books. But it looks and sounds like a stupid movie. (No offense to anyone that likes it.)
Star Trek Nemesis, I absolutly can't wait for this one. It is going to be a awesome movie. I've been a Star Trek fan my whole life and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Only bad part that I see from the previews is it looks like they trash the Enterprise. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif I guess it has to happen sometime...
LOTR, the books are alot better but the movies is still friggin sweet. Looking forward to see TTT in a couple weeks.

It's going to be a busy movie season for me with Nemesis starting Dec. 13 and Two Towers Dec. 18. Anyone see the making of Ring movies on TV Last night? Pretty cool tidbits on the cast and stuff.

No offense taken by me. Like Harry Potter is the ONLY thing about which I've ever been called "stupid" or my tastes lacking. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
I like the look of Nemesis, and as that's my birthday, I hope to see it at some point around then. And naturally, I'm all about getting to see Two Towers on opening day. Should be able to avoid some of work that day to go see it.
I think they've trashed the Enterprise so often in the Star Trek movies it's getting ridiculous.
There's another action movie coming out in December, I think, that looks big on the imagery, gratuitous explosions, violence and mayhem. My kind of movie.

Now one really must wonder how original Star Wars was after reading these books.
Vader is Lukes father, and now..... Froto (sp) or is it Fruito????
Ok, then the Elf hotty must be his sister then while the Kings great grandson, to the 10th power, must be Han Solo.... (Wheres the Falcon?)
If that is the case, then Ben Obi Won (one?) bought the farm in the first film. How many arrows did it take?????
So who's the Emperor??? Gandolph? (Sp)
And regarding Nemisis, I can post a spoiler for you, but I think its best that you see the movie. It is no Insurrection. (Made too look full of battles and stuff only to be nothing more than a feel good flick)
The Marina rule does apply here.

What kind of spoiler is it? A special person in the show, something special happening on the ship? If so I might know what you're talking about. If not then don't tell me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Now, they seem to be going through starships like dirty diapers.

As for the "other" action movie coming out, you're probably thinking of "Equilibrium" (which opens today, I think...)

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Just ask Marina Sirtis http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif She can not talk about any movie prior to its release or she does not get paid. She kinda can't keep a secret. Neither can I.
Most book stores should already have the novel adaptation of the movie out. What I know I have read from the book store.
I doubt I will see the movie when it opens, more than likely wait a few weeks and catch it on an afternoon showing. I can't see paying 8.75 for this movie.

Movie novelizations don't always match what appears onscreen.

Thanks Director. I was going to edit my original message, but now what's the point?
Yes, it's Equilibrium. This movie looks like it can go somewhere. Will it be somewhere that I can enjoy for two hours? I certainly hope so!!
of course, I'm the guy who thought Wing Commander had potential to be a great movie, and could have been worse. I have friends (of sorts) who can attest to that.

If the book came first and then the movie was made based on the book, sometimes the discrepancies are huge. Many movies tend to remove a lot of detail and events that are in the book, so that it fits into a 2-hour show. But sometimes, the story is changed drastically for the movie. I remember reading Agatha Christie's mystery, "And Then There Were None", and then seeing the movie. They completely changed the surprise ending and ruined the story.
