I tried your downloads and they always come up with some error each turn.....what am i doing wrong...or are your mods just stinky?

You can not download or SEIV gives you error message ? If later, it is most likely because pre-Gold AI in SeIV-Gold game and vice versa. Please be more specific and we will help you.

Have you tried looking at the mod's readme files to see whether you've installed the mod properly?
(I doubt that you have, since you couldn't be bothered to look in them to see who wrote the mod. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif )

yes i did it was a borg one.......It said it came with the techfiles but none were there.........and it gives me aneroor message every time there turn is up

Capnq's sig points to a forum entry for bringing pre-Gold races into Gold. Did you try that. Did it fix the problem? Some very old races have something called Filler Tech in their research file. You will have to remove it. I did both of these to bring an old Urquan race into SE4 Gold.
shamanblues, you've posted this same question before. And you got this answer before. Are you trying these tips, and are they working? You didn't respond afterwards that they worked or not.
Some people have designed AI's two years ago and moved on. The binary file does not age and die, however. They may not be browsing this forum. One guy a while back was writing AI's without having the SE4 game. You may be using old races if you're encountering errors.
There are new races for you to try, just be a little selective.

Seams like Atrocities forgot to include the files in his actual 1.79 Version of the borg.
Try to dowload the 1.78 Version, the missing files are still included there.

thanks zaphod for the mod link.....i did as in structed with the components and techarea files .....but now when the game loads it comes up with hte error Messages and i cant play after that.......... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif What now!!

If you want to continue a savegame (simultanous)you have to first login as game master (host) and end the turn.
You can not play a turn directly after modifing the data files.
This way you'll miss one turn.
To prevent missing the turn, play your turn with the data-files you've started the game and then end the turn as host with the new data files.
If you've problems launching se4, make sure you've only 1 return line between the end of the TEXT and the ========== Lines as stated in the "Installing Borg Teck Tree.txt" file.
This way i was able to "mod" it in my running games for SE IV Gold v1.78 (Patch 2).

This si the error message i get when loading space empires 4:
Unknown value "ships\sat" for weapon target "anti-ship warhead I"
And theres two more wich are the same except the #'s on the anti-ship warhead are II and III. After that message comes up I press close on the box and the only options se4 gives me is quit game and credits............Please help

Shaman, on top of posting too much, you posted the wrong stuff.
First of all, not everybody is on nighspeed internet access here. So if you need to post a lot of data, upload the file as a text file and link to it in your post.
Second, what you have posted here is the techarea.txt file for a mod. The problem you are describing is an AI specific problem.

This is a problem with the components.txt file most likely. It soudns like you have a modp that is not setup for 1.78 and you are trying to use it for 1.78. You need to get the most recent Version of the mod, or play it on the Version of SE4 it is made for. Check the mod readme file.

does any one have the original compnents file? I ooked in mine and comparewd it w/ the borg modified one......The was a difference in the anit ship part....but when i went to modify the differences I accidently modified the Original one ......Now i dont remember what the things were....PLease help

You can reload. From the CD if you are talking about the stock files, and from the mod download if you are talking about a mod.
What exactly was the error you were getting for the AI each turn?

well In the each turn was a "special tech" error I think.... But now i cant even get there to see if that has been corrected....but i'll try reinstalling now....Thanks Geo (why didnt I think of that)

well I got the original value settings for the anti ship back and placed them in the borg mod componets file and everyhting seems to be working great now.......Thanks for all your help everyone!!!!!

Delete all of the AI files. Then copy over some AI files from another race. Rename them Borg, and start playing.
If you would take the time to read the HTML viewer's Credits file, (Credits.txt) then perhaps you could have avoided this problem entirely.
NOTE: This race no longer contains modified AI files. To obtain them, you must go to

"Special Technology" was not taken out of the Research.txt file. It was orginally just Borg Technology. I renamed it special for my own games. However, just prior to my hospital stay, I messed up and accidently used an old file instead of the new one for Version 1.79. I am blown away by this collosal screw up on my part, and assure you that I will have it fixed very soon.

This Version does not contain any files for Borg Technology, or Special Technology. It is simply plain Borg AI.
This is the AI that was intended for Version 1.79.

Yes, when I post 1.81, there will be a 1.81ge for the Borg containing God Emperors Borg files.
If you like playing in the Trek universe, you could try the ASTmod (Atrocities Star Trek Mod). You can download it from PBW. If you do this, also be sure to get the Addon Pack as well.
