Okay, probably a dumb question. But do you need to have a space port on a planet in order for your empire to make use of research or intelligence facilities?

For example: A planet has room for five facilities.. could you have all five being research facilities? Or do you need to have one space port, four research facilities in order to get the research points?

I know the space port is needed for minerals, organics, and radioactives.. not sure if needed for intelligence and research as well.

Thanks in advance!

You need a space port in the same system, yes.

By system, do you mean the same solar system? Meaning, if one planet in the solar system has a space port, another planet in the same solar system won't require a space port?

That is correct.

Also, if you look at the info window for a planet (select the planet on the system map), it will have a small red icon on it, indicating that it has no Space Port. This also appears in the Construction Queues window, and the Planet Report window. If there is a Space Port in the system, the icon disappears. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

No problem. There is a Newbie FAQ stickified at the top of this forum, btw. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
