Mafia Christmas
A mafioso's son sits at his desk writing a Christmas list to Jesus. He first writes, "Dear baby Jesus, I have been a good boy the whole year, so I want a new..." He looks at it, then crumples it up into a ball and throws it away.
He gets out a new piece of paper and writes again, "Dear baby Jesus, I have been a good boy for most of the year, so I want a new..." He again looks at it with disgust and throws it away.
He then gets an idea. He goes into his mother's room, takes a statue of the Virgin Mary, puts it in the closet, and locks the door. He takes another piece of paper and writes, "Dear baby Jesus. If you ever want to see your mother again...."
I enjoyed that one. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

One year, a close friend of mine insisted she'd been a bad girl and only deserved a lump of coal.
I bought her a zirconia pendant, wrapped the box in black construction paper, and built a cardboard and aluminum foil "coal scuttle" to put it in.

Merry Xmas all.
It's boxing day in Australia and thought I'd get Online before my boy woke up - wrong, he wants me to play with his new train set.
Congrats Sachmo. I know exactly what you are feeling with a 2 year old and a 3 month old. Just wait until next year. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

P.S...and if the lump of coal was big enough you could call the shiny new diamond 'Hope 2: The bad boy's revenge'
Waaahahahaha! I'm so funny! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

26th of December is a day where all north american (and possibly european and asian) shops get rid of their left-over merchandise for the year with low low low low low low low low and low prices.
Edit: oh, and that day is called boxing day http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Karras Barrens, can someone explain this boxing day thing to me? Boxing Day is a holiday celebrated in Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. It falls on the day after Christmas, which is also St. Stephen's Day.
St. Stephen was a little known saint who achieved eternal fame by being the first Christian to be martyred for his faith, and he met his death by stoning.
Boxing Day is so called because on this day it was the customary for tradesmen to collect their Christmas boxes or gifts in return for good service throughout the year. Also, it included giving money and other gifts to charitable institutions, and the needy.
TerranC, shame on you! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

mlmbd http://www.shrapnelgames.com//ubb/icons/icon6.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

Hmmm....
I didn't know that St. Stephan had a "day" and in particular that it fell on December 26th.
Paul, who many Xians claim to be the founder of Christianity (without Paul, Christianity may never have been preached to the "gentiles" and remained a sect of the Jewish faith.), not only prosecuted Stephan but supervised his execution.
Stephan is said to have done the very Christian thing by forgiving Paul and his stoners while he was being stoned.
Some scholars believe that Stephan's behaviour affected Paul so deeply that it set the stage for his conVersion.
And with his conVersion on the road to Damascus, Christianity as we know it today, had its beginnings.
So I wonder about the connection between the charity displayed by St. Stephan to his stoners and the charity Xians of past centuries have displayed on boxing day.
But whatever the connection, the tradition seems to have died out.
