Im playing a game right now and just finished researching fighters 2 (i've done that late).
I've armed my fighters with shield depleter and meson bLaster. I pit them (40) in combat simulator against an enemy dreadnought.
The fighters successfuly deplete its shields with a loss of 1 or 2 and... retreat.
Explain me why is that?

The only suggestion I can think of is to check what the fighters' default strategy is set as, and what settings that strategy is set to.
Could they have destroyed all of the dreadnought's weapons, and no longer consider it a valid target?

I've not seen that - has anyone else?
It their strategy set to only do 10% damage to ships?

i use fighters from starbases and they have wiped out all incoming ships. even chasing them to the corners of the combat screen.
could his choice of weapon be the problem. if there are no more shields will they still attack if primary weapon is shield depleter?

i dont understand that.
i've done a duplicate design with weapons order reversed. same.
changed strategy to default "short weapons range".
same thing.
what the holy torpedoes is going on? shield depleters are so much useful on fighters that i dont feel like removing them.

Sounds like it might be an AI bug with the Shield Depleter on fighters. Maybe they are deciding to retreat when they can't use their depleters.
Ironic, since a long-time problem with rocket pod fighters is/was they float around and get killed after they take their one shot even if they have no other weapons.
