Does the energy transmission lens work on ships that have no shields to begin with? What about units - does it add 20/40/60 shields to each satellite (for example), each satellite group, or does it not work on units?

i think a ship needs shields first, but im not sure. for fighters, it works on every fighter in the stack, increasing the total shields for the stack by 20/40/60*number of fighters. i would guess it does the same for sats.

The units must have shields. But yes, the lens does add to the unit stack. Once a crystaline race builds that facility in a system, it becomes a tough nut to crack.

The jury is still out on troops though, seems like their shields either don't get added or don't work at all yet.

whoa... every fighter... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif that's an extra mini shield generator which is a 4 kT component on every fighter... guess that's why it's not 50/100/150 or something that would be more useful on ships!

I remember testing it out on fighters. Very disappointing results in strategic combat.

Fighter shield points get converted to damage resistance and added to the fighters total damage points.

Here is the glitch:
1. There is a blue shield strength bar and a red KT (health) bar.
2. In combat the blue bar is bogus.
3. The LENS facility shield point bonus is added to the blue bar.

I tested my fighters against a ship with one PD V cannon with talisman. 65 KT damage and no misses.
My small fighter with level 2 shield (about 62KT)would be destroyed by one hit, with or without the lense facility.
