Well here it is, the product of many months of work, my first set looks like total crap, this one, my second.. does not, and all though I do realise most of you probably don't know who I am anyway, Im gonna post it anyway. I released it on christmas eve but i overlooked a few details and diddnt have AI.... well i shagged an AI from a built in race and modified it, and made all the mini's transparent where needed and touched the images up a bit there too. So blah blah blah, my latest and greatest.

Tell me what you think, I havent been getting much feedback.

FYI: It was meant to hold a few of my very very early ship designs befroe I got good lol (back when i was 15 or 16) im 22 now.

I like the set. Except one part of it, the Dreadnought.
I like the Battleship is much much better looking then the Dread. It is too flat looking really. But that is just MHO.
Other then that the set looks awesome.

For the most part I like it, I think the ground troops could be a little more interesting, and it could use a little more continuity.

Maybe it's just me but, it kinda looks like an evil Federation. Another race to conquer in solo play, or perhaps PBW if you post it there also.

Yea that was one of my concearns, as I said though this set was meant to incorperate my old old ships that i made back when i was 15 or 16, my very first creations.

Geo's eye? I don't follow that one, ,and ill check into that broken link later on, thanks for pointing that out.

And I'd point out what I did the images in, its a common piece of software but well, every time I do i get bombarded with teach me requests cause its kinda complicated lol

The very center of the mine has a bluish sphere inside a white ring. (could be my vision). This is very similar to geoschmoes origenal avatar.

Nice set, thanks

And as far as the Eye, thanks for explaining that http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif I diddn't know it would spark such a thought, I just stuck it there cause I thought it'd make it look cooler.

Fyron, *****, this is not the ladder lol

My friend fyron thinks I had an attitude... I meant no offense to anyone, if I offended I apologize, but NOT to fyron. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I do believe this is the attitude he was talking about.
You did not offend me but I would still watch the attitude. This may not be the ladder but you should still watch how you go about things around here.

GeneralVaughn, since it seem you think you are better than most! here is a sample of my work; http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/newuploads/1041445293.bmp

And a link to more; http://www.sandman43.fsnet.co.uk/se4main.htm This is dogscoff's website. Fyron is right (I can't believe I just said that http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif ); you have an attitude! You had asked; Tell me what you think. I wasn't going to just tell you it really isn't that good. No offence! Unless I could give you some helpful criticism. If I knew the prg, I could do so. If not I would keep what I thought to myself! So, now by all means keep that knowlege to yourself. I no longer have the inclantion or desire to help you. Whether I could or not.

And I am checking out the links you gave me as we speak, and further more, Yes, I do want constructive criticism! If something is not right about the set by all means I want to know about it, that was the whole point of this thread.

Awesome set Dave, as I've told you before over the months you've been working on it. There's alot of details in your ships and especially the troops. Unfortunately, they don't seem to notice.

As for "mlmbd", man I hate to break it to you, but your shipsets are ugly. Looks like takes on the cheaper SE3 shipsets... The bad ones.
Your shipsets could use some variety. They're too plain and flat. Maybe Dave should help you. And who said ships had to look similar? Wouldn't it be logical to have different shapes for diffent tasks?

GeneralVaughn, as per my reply to your PM. You and I have no problem.

Angelicans/Romiians, I am sorry you find my ships ugly. You have your opinion. It is so noted. As I told your friend 'Dave' in my PM, I will not get into a flame contest with either of you. I would like to mention FYI "a single ship, does not a shipset make". The ship is a Worldship. One of several I did for dogscoff's "NEOXPANTION V1._10" . So ofcourse they would look the same. Even if they are ugly. I have not posted an entire 'shipset' anywhere.

Hadrian, Your shipsets are different from most - a quality I like in ships <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I do as well!

Nice set. One suggestion I will make (and I make this to just about everyone who releases a shipset=-) is this:

How about some neostandard images? A worldship or a scout might be kinda fun, don't you think? Your race portrait looks like an infantry pic already, so you could just create a "civilian" Version of that and have one neostandard pic already...

Also, thanks for drawing my attention to that website, I had no idea it existed. Some of you webmasters need to advertise a little more http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I thought the neostandard mod had ended.<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well, its not a mod, and why/how would it "end"?

Its a simple idea to avoid naming confusion and encourage the use of more images in mods:
You want extra pictures for use in a mod, use these names.
You want to add images to your shipset for cool mods, use these names.

Instead of having battlemoons, deathstars, and other arbitrary names, you just use "worldship", and your mod/shipset is automatically compatible with whatever shipset/mod players want to use it with.

Unknown Enemy, thank you.
I'd like to proffer:
Tone inflection and body language that would have turned many of the words / expresions here into wry or subtle humor with clearly no offence intended were lost in both the typing and reading of them.
Guys, Can we bury the Cap Ship Missles?
Thanks,

mlmbd, as per our PM i've develloped respect for you, simply because you spoke your mind and went off on me, it sounds odd but I appreciate that from everyone.

The rest of you, thank you sincerely for offering me your criticism, if theres mods around that require additional ships to meet with its requirements.... I'd very much like the specs, if you like the ships I've created then I may create more to make it mod-compatible.. as im already considering making yet another one anyway.

My general impression was that after SE4 Gold came out work was discontinued. I was upset because I was really looking forward to the expanded shipsets.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well... like S_J says, the neostandard is essentially just a list of names, so once that was completed there wasn't much work to be continued.

You are probably referring to what is now called the neo-expansion pack (http://www.sandman43.fsnet.co.uk/neostandexpansion.htm), which is just a bunch of neostandard images for the stock races. While these are fun and add flavour to modded games, they are by no means required by any mod that I know of (except, arguably, the generic shipset in non-Gold mods.)

The thing to remember is that the neostandard is completely optional for modders, players and shipset creators. As long as you have the basic escort, frigate, destroyer etc as prescribed by Malfador you will be fine. Any extra images you have on top of that (ie the neostandard ones) are exactly that: Extra. Added Value. Bonus. The neostandard is just a way of maximising that added value.

General V: a list of the neostandard sizes is available here. (http://www.sandman43.fsnet.co.uk/neostand.htm) Feel free to add all, some or none of them to your shipset(s). The inclusion or non-inclusion of these images will not affect compatibility of your shipset with mods in any way: Your shipset is already compatible with all the major mods.

However, let's suppose you add a scout image to your shipset. When someone then uses your shipset in proportions mod, they will be pleasantly surprised to see that while the Rage's scout looks exactly the same as its escort, yours has a distinct image for each. Likewise in Devnullmod and Ultimatevehiclesize mod.

As for which ones to include... the most commonly used are probably the Scout, the huge & massive fighters and the TroopInfantry. It's worth doing a worldship too because they are just so much fun (think Death Star; worldships are cool).
Like I say though, it's entirely up to you. Include as many or as few as you like.
