i occassionally see people say they've retouched their ships in 2d and so on. What do you do with them, exactly? I've not a single idea if realy...

A while back I wrote a tutorial for making ship sets from scratch. It is included on the Gold CD.

Basically it means many things. But most often, they clean the edges of the image up by removing any black ora's that may be present.

Or they have a better image of said picture and want to use it.

After rendering, sometimes I'll edit the picture's brightness/contrast/hue or things like that. I also make textures in photoshop, so I'm editing a lot in 2D to apply to the 3D.

I work in doga, and am retouching a lot of shipsets yet to be released.

Retouching (in DoGA) (as in "what I do"):

Re-adjusting image angles
Lighting
Adding/removing parts
Different Textures
Rerenders

among other things.

Yes, I do a lot of touching up in photoshop. I do things like add glows, adjust the brightness/contrast, adjust colors etc. Of course I don't do quite as much touching up of shipsets as I do on otherthings.
